So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I still have the memento on my desk from that trip to Inuvik. Pretty sure they are enjoying their next journey. Take care.
HÉROUX, Gisèle Marie
1932 - 2021
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gisèle Héroux, née Lehoux, at the age of 89 on October 17, 2021 at the Temiskaming Hospital.
Gisèle was born on a farm in Coppell, Ontario to Yvonne Payeur and Félix Lehoux. She attended school in Coppell and Hearst where she studied until her father fell ill. After selling the farm, the family moved to Wawa and afterwards to Larder Lake. It is where her mother, with daughters Gisèle and Aline, opened the Flamingo Restaurant, serving many workers from the Kerr Mine. The family then moved to Earlton and opened the next Flamingo Restaurant where Gisèle met her future husband Victor in 1955. They married and had three children.
In 1971, Victor and Gisèle and in-laws Clément and Thérèse built what became Loon Lake Trailer Park. Gisèle enjoyed her role as co-owner, helping to manage and maintain the campground. After selling the business, Gisèle and Victor travelled to many destinations such as Florida, Europe, and Canada including Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. In addition, for over 20 years, Gisèle enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lake Temiskaming.
Gisèle had many interests including gardening, watching her birds, making her famous raspberry jam and cheering the Montréal Canadiens as well as her husband when he played hockey. Gisèle was a kind and loving spouse, mother and grandmother. Her sharp wit, keen mind, work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit will not be forgotten.
She will always be remembered and forever loved by her children Susanne, Michel and Lynn and by her grandson Isaac. Also left to mourn are her siblings Aline, Yolande (Josephat), Huguette (Danny) and Réjean (Brigitte) and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gisèle was predeceased by her husband Victor, her parents Yvonne and Félix, her brother Jean Louis, her brother-in-law Roger, and her son-in-law Roy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stacy Desilets for the excellent care given for many years. Also thanked are Dr. Meaghan Alexander, Dr. Colleen Davies and the nursing staff for the wonderful care given at the Temiskaming Hospital. As well, we thank Gisèle’s personal support workers, notably Kaitlyn, for her unwavering assistance during the last five years.

Le cœur lourd, nous annonçons le décès de notre mère bien-aimée, Gisèle Héroux, née Lehoux, à l'âge de 89 ans, le 17 octobre 2021 à l’hôpital Témiskaming.
Gisèle est née sur une ferme à Coppell, Ontario de Yvonne Payeur et Félix Lehoux. Elle a fréquenté l'école à Coppell et à Hearst jusqu'à ce que son père tombe malade. Après avoir vendu la ferme, la famille a déménagé à Wawa et ensuite à Larder Lake. C'est là que sa mère, appuyée par ses filles Gisèle et Aline, ouvre le restaurant Flamingo, servant principalement les travailleurs de la mine Kerr. La famille a ensuite déménagé à Earlton et a ouvert le prochain restaurant Flamingo où, en 1955, Gisèle a rencontré Victor, son futur mari. Ils se sont mariés et ont eu trois enfants.
En 1971, Victor et Gisèle avec Clément et Thérèse ont construit ce qui est devenu Loon Lake Trailer Park. Gisèle a apprécié son rôle de copropriétaire aidant à gérer et à entretenir le terrain de camping. Après avoir vendu l'entreprise, Gisèle et Victor ont voyagé vers de nombreuses destinations telles que la Floride, l'Europe et le Canada dont Inuvik dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest. Pour plus de 20 ans, Gisèle a aimé passer du temps au chalet familial sur le lac Témiscamingue.
Gisèle avait de nombreux intérêts dont le jardinage, l'observation de ses oiseaux, la fabrication de sa fameuse confiture de framboise et l'encouragement des Canadiens de Montréal et de son mari lorsqu'il jouait au hockey. Gisèle était une épouse, une mère et une grand-mère gentille et aimante. Son intelligence vive, son éthique de travail et son esprit d'entreprise ne seront pas oubliés.
Elle demeurera toujours dans nos mémoires et aimée par ses enfants Susanne, Michel et Lynn et par son petit-fils Isaac. Sont également dans le deuil ses sœurs Aline, Yolande (Josephat), Huguette (Danny) et son frère Réjean (Brigitte) ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, nièces, neveux et cousins. Gisèle a été précédée par son mari Victor, ses parents Yvonne et Félix, son frère Jean Louis, son beau-frère Roger et son gendre Roy.
La famille tient à remercier Dre Stacy Desilets pour les excellents soins prodigués depuis de nombreuses années. Nous remercions également Dre Meaghan Alexander, Dre Colleen Davies et le personnel infirmier pour les merveilleux soins portés à l’hôpital Temiskaming. De plus, nous remercions les préposées au soutien personnel de Gisèle, notamment Kaitlyn, pour son aide indéfectible au cours des cinq dernières années.
