Greetings from Lahti.Finland a former resident of Kirkland Lake. To begin with, I do not know the family personally, however, I do recognize family names mentioned. In my view Northern Ontario is very rich in ethnic diversity of people a community of communities. Kirkland Lake was among those where the early arrivals came to work in forestry and the mines. They built their families, out reach and served their community. It was at Queen Elizabeth school when I first recognized the value of these ethnic diversity of people. The Blessings in this story are very apparent rich in talent and spirit. The Gerhard H. Wagner obituary is a very interesting story about a man, his integrity of character, his families and service to the community. They are among Kirkland Lakes finest citizens. May God Bless this household to-day.

Gerry was such a delight to care for and always had a smile waiting for me when he saw me. I will deeply miss his special greeting of Madam Lazonga. He always had a special name for many of the care givers. HIs mischief ways always put a special spark in his eyes. He was very much loved and will remain in my heart forever. MY condolences to the family for their loss. Debbie

I’m thinking of my wonderful God Father today–such a very talented fellow. Gentle and kind and always ready with a little punch line or quip. So many good memories as a child going to Gerhard and Elsie’s in Kirkland Lake from Noranda and playing with Linda and Judy and Jimmy. I feel so glad that I was able to have a quality visit with this fine man and my beautiful God Mom, Elsie just before Christmas. Gerhard did introduce me to his care-givers and pointed out the painted rock I’d given him of the church he used to play the pump-organ for services. Also reminded me of some long-ago happenings during his life. (I was surprised frankly that he’d remembered the collision into a snowbank on their way to my confirmation in Noranda one time) God Pop, you will be always remembered and loved.
