Martin, Freida [Wettlaufer] – With sadness the family announces the death of Freida Martin of Englehart at the age of 83 years. Freida passed away Monday, April 25, 2011 at North Bay Regional Health Centre with her loving daughters by her side. Freida was born at home on November 26, 1927 to the late Edward Wettlaufer and the late Caroline Heinbuch. Freida grew up on the family farm in a German Community in Sebastobol Township near Stratford. After marrying John Martin Jr. they relocated to Englehart where she lived for the past 58 years. Many will remember Freida when she worked at the Englehart High School Cafeteria. In earlier years, she and her husband had been very active with the Earlton Bowling League. She loved playing cards,doing puzzles and playing bingo. Freida is remembered by her daughters as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be sadly missed. Predeceased by her parents, husband John Martin Jr., infant son Tommy, son-in-law Kevin Ryan, grandson Dan Ryan; and her siblings: Laura Schmidt, Helen McDermott, Gladys Fraser and Archibald Wettlaufer. Freida is survived by her loving daughters: Gwen [Rick] Ayotte of Ottawa, Carolyn Ryan of Charlton, Marilyn [Claude Leveille] of Haileybury and Trudy [Graydon] Mills of North Bay. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Michelle [Malachi] Schram, Nicole [Doug] Kroeker, Justin [Julie Armstrong] Ryan, Travis [Vanessa Montminy] Ryan, Khrystle Ryan, MacKenzie and Mason Mills. Also left to mourn are great-grandchildren: Dannee and Jenna Ryan, Maya and Kody Schram, Ben and Owen Kroeker; and her sisters: Mabel [Bruce] MacDonald of Stratford and Edna Pembroke of Nanaimo, BC. The Martin Family will welcome friends at the McDonald Funeral Home on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 7: to 9:pm. Funeral services will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11:00am. Reverend Jessica Cottrell officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Englehart Cemetery beside her infant son Tommy. Memorial contributions in Freida’s memory may be made to Community Cancer Support or Timiskaming Palliative Care Network.
