BURTON, Eva May

1933 - 2019

In loving memory of Mrs. Eva May Burton who passed away at the Rosedale Centre in Matheson on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at the age of 85 in the company of her loving family and loving staff. Eva was born to Frank and Ruby Cowell on Christmas Day, December 25, 1933. She was raised on a farm, attended a one room country school and worked out as a housekeeper and babysitter caring for the homes and children of others. She also worked as a Nurses’ Aide at both Matheson hospital sites before her marriage. In August of 1956 she married Munroe Burton in Matheson. After their marriage they moved to Englehart and made their home there for over 50 years. It is where they raised their children, while often returning to Matheson where the ties with parents and grandparents remained strong and instilled in all our hearts a bountiful love of sharing and caring. Eva carried within her a being of giving and devotion; an example to be carried forever forward. Eva was a member of the UCW in Englehart. But more than that, she was a constant support to family, friends and neighbors with a heart that served. Eva is predeceased by her beloved parents, Frank and Ruby (Waldren) Cowell. In December2014, Eva lost Munroe, her loving husband of 58 years. Eva is survived by her children, son Thomas Burton (Ginette) and daughter Olive Ann Vanderkooy (Peter). She is also survived by three grandchildren Matthew Vanderkooy (Jacqueline), Alan Vanderkooy (Lisa), Stephanie Bonis (Jared). She leaves behind three great grandchildren, Theodore, Samuel and Evan. She is survived by her brothers Norman (Nan), Donald (Diane), Charles and Carl; as well as her sisters Carrie and Cora (Norman). Funeral arrangements by McDonald Funeral Home of Englehart. Funeral Service at St Andrews United Church, Matheson; Monday January 21, 2019 at 11:30 am. Visitation from 10:30 till 11:30. Spring Internment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Matheson. If desired memorial contributions can be made to The Rosedale Centre, Matheson, or to the UCW of either Englehart or Matheson United Churches.
