PALMATEER, Esther

1931 - 2020

With deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Esther, at her home in Englehart, at the age of 89. Esther was born to Tom Jones and Vera Fader and adopted at birth by the Toye family of Sharpe Township. Esther was predeceased by her 3 brothers and 10 sisters. As a child she enjoyed school and attending church. She was much loved by her husband of 65 years, Ron (predeceased 2015). Ron called her his “Little Esther”. Family was her greatest joy. Esther was a gentle, caring mother to her 5 sons: John (Jane Galea), Randy (Carmen), Joseph (Jackie), Bill (Joan), and Richard (Pam); and 3 daughters: Barb Watkins (late Brian), Sue (Ralph Ellerton), and Shirley Cook (Barry). She adored her 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grand children, and 1 great-great grandson. Esther raised her family on the farm in Dack Township. She enjoyed her garden in her younger years, making pickles and preserves, following the Royal Family news, had beautiful vocals and loved music. She also loved her kitties: Lucky, Muffin, and Baby. Esther was loved by all those who met her, including her Personal Support Workers from Temiskaming Home Support. Thank you for the loving care. Due to Covid-19 there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. In memory of Esther Palmateer, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
