So sorry for your loss. I remember her with a smile always. Thinking of your family.
Erna Deutsch of Kirkland Lake, Ontario passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, October 14, 2019 at the age of 89. She was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany on October 5, 1930 and eventually made her way to Kirkland Lake where she settled, married and started a family. She worked many part-time jobs and worked as a nurse’s aid at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake for many years before retiring. She enjoyed many crafting hobbies including baking, sewing, knitting and music. Erna loved to spend time with her family and friends and would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. Those who were lucky enough to taste her famous German Christmas Cake, Rouladen with Spaetzle, Apple Cake, special Turkey dinners, etc. know exactly how tasty these were. Erna had a great sense of humour and would say things like: “Every pot has a lid” to those still looking for love or “You can eat everything in moderation” to those on a diet or she would offer advice and tell it like it is in her famous “Dr. Ruth” voice to anyone who would listen. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Laszlo Deutsch and her three children: Roland and his wife Tina of Peterborough, Ilona Bruneau and her husband Rick of Kirkland Lake, and Ursula Deutsch with partner Melvin of Wilton Manors, Florida. Her grandchildren that she loved to spoil and knew her as their “Oma” will miss her; they are Doron, Jadon, Aaron and Ethon of Florida, and Tyler of Kirkland Lake. She also has many nieces and nephews in Europe including Ursula Becker & her husband Karl of Germany. She is predeceased by her parents Johann and Barbara Hörner and thirteen brothers and sisters (Franz, Karl, Dora, Maria, Katarina, Gerda, Betty, Hannelore, Bernhard, Werner, Gisela and Richard). The family wishes to sincerely thank everyone at Teck Pioneer Residence, the Community Care Access Centre staff and nurses, her Nurse Practitioner Debbie, the V.O.N. and the many nurses and doctors at the Kirkland and District Hospital who diligently and compassionately cared for her.As per her wishes, a private ceremony and burial will take place at a later date for the immediate family. She wanted all her friends to remember all the good times they had together over the years and to just “Go and enjoy your life while you can, travel, eat good food and especially have fun !” Offer Condolence for the family of Erna Deutsch (née Hörner)
