When I was a kid and Richard and Erica did not have children yet, our families used to spend hot summer Sundays on a flat rock on the shore of Tournene Lake (across the hyway from Bear Lake) smoking perch in a homade smoker, which was a barrel with a duct with a wood fire in it at the bottom. We caught the fish from the rock ledge. Richard and Erica could never remember to bring their bathing suits and my parents asked me to look in the other direction while they went in the water and came out. You can still see the flat ledge on the lakeshore on your way to Kirkland Lake from Virginiatown. This is one of my favorite memories of my Godparents.

We are so sorry to here of the passing of your mother Art and Peter. Just on the weekend Sam was wondering how she was doing. We were up north fishing and blueberry picking and it must have stirred up memories, thinking he would like to go back . When we visited her years ago she was so happy to see him and we had a really good time. She was a fine lady and will be missed by all.

Art, Kate, Roddy, Sam and Pete…our deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom and Grandma. We were so pleased to meet Erika at the time of Art and Kate’s wedding. The photo gallery is lovely. Your mom looked so pleased to be surrounded by her family. Mac thought that young Erika looked like Grace Kelly. Please know that our thoughts are with you all. Rod and Sam, please ask lots of questions about Gutmanis family traditions. Take care.

The pictorial tribute is beautiful and is sure to be full of many happy memories. Now is the time to take good care of yourselves, as well as taking comfort and pride in the many acts of loving kindness that you have shown to Erika over the years. Dear Pete, I was sorry to hear of your sweet mother’s passing. She was such a good friend to me in the few years after we were reacquainted, after a fifty year gap. When i last spoke with her a few weeks ago she sounded very weak, and I know she was ready to go on to the next adventure in store for us all. I will miss our telephone chats and her contageous laughter. She was a great lady. Much love Lilija

Dearest Peters, Arturs and family: I know there are no words that can take away your sorrow or your sadness, but I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you with a saddened heart. I hope that the beautiful memories of your wonderful mother will bring you comfort and may God help to ease your burden as He knows the sadness that you feel. You continue to be in my prayers. With my deepest and heartfelt sympathy and much, much love to you â Inara and family âHe who kneels before God can stand before anyone.â?
