ELIZABETH ANDERSON,

With deepest sorrow, the family of Mrs. Elizabeth “Bette” Anderson announces her passing at the Kirkland & District Hospital on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Bette was predeceased by her husband John “Andy” Anderson and her brother Lorne “Bud” Newton. Bette is survived by her beloved daughter, Lynda Vankoughnett (Anderson) and her three step grand children Kim McDonald, Ryan Vankoughnett and Courtney Archibald and her eight step great grandchildren. Bette is also survived by her brother Bruce Newton; nephews and nieces Brett Newton, Gary Anderson, Brenda Newton, Betty Girard, Shirley Leonard; cousins Norma Wilson, George Vincent, Patricia Strah and Bob Leng. Bette attended Trinity United Church. She was a member of the Horticultural and Encore Clubs. Formerly, she was a volunteer at the hospital Tuck Shop. Bette enjoyed walking, gardening, travelling, cross country skiing, line dancing, bridge and reading. She was also a talented water colour artist. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the First Baptist Church with Pastor Peter Panabaker officiating. Donations in Bette’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (61 Main Street, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3E4) or Trinity United Church (P.O. Box 512, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3J5) or Kirkland & District Hospital Foundation (P.O. Box 3000, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3P4).
