Hey now, I am shocked! I just made a call to my friends back in Kirkland Lake, only to find out the news…. My wife and I, ( Jen ) rented cabin #6 from Elaine and Paul for a full summer while I was employed at KL Gold for a year. We spent a very memorable summer there enjoying the cabin, campfires, and the beach. The best times were had with Elaine and her larger than life personality!….she made us feel at home in the north, always leaving the door to her house open…”if you need anything, and I’m not here” attitude….followed up with, “just call me at the shop and I will bring it home for you”. I cannot believe the late to me news….all I can remember is Elaine rolling in only to call out for our dog, “Sebastian”….he would rip across the lawn up to the main house to greet Elaine every night…. Everything they had there was offered to us to enjoy on many occations…. Elaine was the ultimate host! This is going to take a while to digest. My wife and I relocated from cabin#6 to Katy, Texas, loated on the west side of Houston, and have been here now for 4 years…how time flys! I will remember Elaine forever as “one of those special people” that had everything, and gave everything…..even to complete strangers…. The Langtons Thomas and Jen 221 Baker Rd. Suite A10 Box 5 Houston, TX 77094

I wish to express my sincere condolences to Elaine’s family. I have known Elaine for many years and first met her when she rented my property upon her arrival to Kirkland Lake. She was a bubbly free spirited girl who could accomplish anything she wanted to do, and eagerly did that. Her sheer determination and eagerness to succeed in life was a true gift that she expressed to many people through her work and business dealings. To be dealt the fate she was, in the prime of her life, only leaves sadness to those who loved her. Such a treasure will be missed greatly by her friends and family. I wish you all peace, with sincere sympathy.

To Paul, family and Doreen too. There will never be an answer why a strong, tenacious and very accomplished young woman is gone. So, to honour her strength and tenacity is what is left. And Paul if you let her you will remember that strength and she will help you realize all of what she was is with you. Talk to her. In such sorrow for you, Lynn and Doug.

Such a shock! Such a loss to the world! You brought such a sense of fun and lightness to each and every appointment. When I went through colon cancer challenges you knew exactly what to say and how to inject that essential element of hope! You were always so positive and appreciative….a simple but sincere Christmas card and gift of thanks for your amazing work throughout the year found me receiving a lovely note back signed “love from Elaine”. You have my love and thanks forever lovely lady!

Round Lake has lost one of our own. Brian and I are going to miss seeing Doreen and Elaine walking their dogs down Rosegrove Road in the evening. We will miss her sunny smile and enthusiastic wave. Once in a while we would stop and chat with the two of them, always leaving with the positive feeling that one gets after talking with good people. She will be sorely missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to Paul and her entire family.

Hi, I am so, so sorry for your loss, heaven’s gain. Elaine, to me, epitomized life, living it large and embracing love. So much fun. From the time of her shop in Englehart, where I first met Elaine. Wine and getting your hair done, I could not ask for more.. and other stories. It was through Rob Wylie, I first met Elaine. Paul, just to let you know, when I heard, I was shaken and so sad, but determined to live life minute by minute, and in the present. Lots and lots of warm hugs to you and everyone. — Pat McLean

On behalf of myself & my Mum, Joyce McGugan, we extend our sincere sympathies to Elaine’s family. Elaine was a long time friend of Joyce’s, they baked bread together, Mum knit many pairs of socks for her Christmas gifts, she did Mum’s hair every Thursday for many years, she even came to the hospital last year to do Mum’s hair. Mum was permitted to visit with her just last Thursday, such a blessing for them both, she will be fondly remembered & sadly missed. She was a beautiful lady, filled with love, life & happiness, may she rest in God’s peace!
