Edith Margot Leukert died peacefully at the Temiskaming Lodge on October 3, 2014. Mrs. Leukert was born in Berlin Germany on November 15, 1921. She was predeceased by her son, Wolfgang and her husband Heinz. Surviving Edith is her son Juergen (Carole); son Heinz (Baerbel); grandchildren Monica (Gavin Date), Darren (Rita); Eric (Shawna); Michael and Christine; four great grandchildren, Cameron and Alexander Date; Keith and Cole Leukert. In 1957 Edith immigrated to Canada, residing in Schumacher with her family. The family later moved to Porcupine for five years. Edith and her husband then lived in Eldorado, Saskatchewan to continue Heinz's mining career. They retired to New Liskeard in 1982. Edith was a volunteer with the New Liskeard Library Board for nine years and a member of St Paul's United Church. She embraced the Canadian way of life and culture and was a proud Canadian. Her interests were her family, flowers, cooking, music and traveling. The family will receive friends at the Perrin Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 9, 2014 at Perrin Funeral Chapel. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to St Paul's United Church.
