It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Earl Henry Bandy of New Liskeard on December 14, 2015. He had been in hospital for six months since suffering a stroke in June. Earl was born in New Liskeard on January 12, 1933 to Richard (Dick) Bandy and Marjorie Messenger. He is survived by his wife Yvonne (Forget), son Glen (Deborah) of New Liskeard and daughter Donna (Juergen) Endres of Oakville, and brother Allan and sister Linda (Armand) of Brampton, Ontario, grandchildren Justin and Tessa Bandy, and Kaitlin and Karly Endres, and four great grandchildren. Earl was predeceased by his parents, his son Dennis, brother Lloyd and sister Valda Dobson. He will be sadly missed by his in-laws and many cherished nieces and nephews. In his early years, Earl worked as an underground miner in Cobalt and Gowganda. He also worked at Hill-Clark-Francis building window sashes for a few years. Then he was employed by a local contractor (Lorne Jelly Sr.) as a cabinet maker specializing in kitchen cupboards and bathroom vanities. The next 20 years he was with the Timiskaming Board of Education on school maintenance from Bear Island, Temagami to Charlton-Savard until his retirement in 1993. Earl had a great interest in antique cars, owning and restoring several 1931 Model A Fords. If he couldn't find original parts needed, he would fabricate his own on his steel lathe. Other hobbies included his love of country music, playing the fiddle ( from a young age), fishing for lake trout and picking blueberries. He spent many hours doing specialized woodwork such as making grandfather clocks, complete with movements. For 5 years, Earl also had bee hives extracting his own honey. His woodworking skills extended to building bee boxes featuring "dovetail" corners. He looked forward to regular semi-annual trips to visit his sister Linda and family in Brampton and his daughter Donna and her family in Oakville. Funeral services to be held at Perrins Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 18th, at 2 pm, with Deacon Larry Duke officiating. Visitation from 12 to 2 pm prior to service. Pallbearers are Glen Bandy, Robert, Claude, Gerald, Dez Forget and Aurele and Alain Miron. Donations may be made to Community Cancer Care. Interment in New Liskeard Pioneer Cemetery.
