Dearest Valya, Tanya and Families, I have come across the announcement of Mitya’s passing by accident (in writing a story about Kirkland Lake), and I am so sorry we did not know in time to attend his funeral and to express our condolences in person. On behalf of the Mozarowski and Palijenko families we remember Mitya with abiding fondness. I, especially, recall his great kindness, tenderness and extraordinary sense of humour, that I came to appreciate in my adolescent years. And, naturally, I remember: No one could beat him in a card game of Durak. With love, Andrea Mozarowski and Peter Palijenko

I was so sorry to hear about Metro. He had a good sense of humour, he was sweet and a great neighbour. I’ve known Metro for most of my life through Spic & Span where he worked with my Dad, Norm Janes. He always teased me about my rust bucket car that I called The Bomber. He couldn’t believe how many times it got me to KL from Toronto. So long Metro it was wonderful knowing you.
