I knew who Doug Murdoch was for many years and heard many great things about him. I didnt have the priviledge of knowing Doug until our involvement with the GoldMiners Jr. A Hockey Club. I always enjoyed our conversations whether it was hockey, business or our work fundraising for the GoldMiners. Doug’s passion and dedication for his family, business, community and the GoldMiners is something I will always admire about him and sadly miss. To the Murdoch family we offer our deepest condolences and that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The Sinclair Family

We’ve known Doug since Gail and his dating days in the 60’s in Kirkland Lake and Ottawa. We so enjoyed his good humor, thoughtfulness and kindness at our get-to-gethers and especially at our and Gail’s nursing reunions. It is with deep sadness that we hear of his passing but our tears will never erase all the wonderful memories we all have shared.

Doug joined the snowbirds hockey club in 2005. He has played every winter with us in Southwest Florida. We are all sadden to hear that Doug lost his battle with cancer. A true friend with a genuine heart of gold. I can speak for all when I say he will be greatly missed.

I’ve known Doug for many years. First as his employee, fresh out of college and then as a business associate and then as a friend. But he’s always been my mentor. From his family to his friends to his staff, he always poured his heart and soul into everything he did. He is dearly missed here at the shop. We enjoyed his visits very much. My heart goes out to the Murdoch Family. May you find comfort in knowing that he changed many lives in his time, mine being near the top of that list.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Murdoch family. My father, Murray, had a great deal of respect for Doug and always spoke of him with fondness. I have vivid memories of Doug working alongside his father on Government Road, in K.L., in “the Old Days”. He was always kind and engaging, even with an young adolescent, as I was at the time. Take comfort in your own memories and in each other as you grieve this great loss.

Dear Gail and Family. My thoughts are with you. I first met Doug 50 years ago when we shared in the opening of NOIT, he as a student, I as a green teacher. In the lonely times, think about what you have had, rather than what you have lost. I find it helps.
