Duquette (née McCarty) Doreen May – Doreen May Duquette of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, passed away peacefully in Kirkland & District Hospital, with her family by her side, on January 20th, 2013. Doreen was born in 1940 to Bill and Tena McCarty in New Liskeard, Ontario. Doreen enjoyed life to the fullest and took great pleasure in sharing with others her fond memories of growing up and raising her family in Kirkland Lake and North Bay. She was a devoted and proud mother. She was optimistic, lighthearted and full of laughter. Doreen is survived by her four (4) children, Cam (Mary Ann Sasseville) of Sudbury, Mike of Brampton, Joanne of Ottawa and Tina (Leon Schlosser) of Calgary. She was the loving grandmother of four (4) beautiful grandchildren, Camisha (Tina), Autumn (Tina), Eric (Mike) and Jarrett (Joanne). Doreen was a dear sister to Mary Lalonde, Anne Hammond, (Don Hammond, predeceased), Jack McCarty (Cathy), Leonard McCarty and Bill McCarty (Shirley). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Doreen was an avid and active community sports supporter and participant. She played, coached and organized girls’ sports teams including baseball and ringette while living in North Bay. Recently, she took great pleasure in participating in the Kirkland Lake Bell Choir and assisting as a volunteer with the Kirkland Lake Museum. She enjoyed singing with the Holy Name Church Choir. She was also a member of Kirkland Lake’s Interlink Intergenerational Choir. Doreen was proud to be born and raised in Northern Ontario and was a true Canadian. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Doreen is resting at the French Family Funeral Home in Kirkland Lake. A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Name Parish in Kirkland Lake in May 2013. Donations to the Kirkland Lake Hospital and Interlink Intergenerational Choir would be greatly appreciated.Offer Condolence for the family of Doreen Duquette
