SOBUSH, Dora

1931 - 2023

SOBUSH, Dora (Doris)

It’s with a heavy heart the family announces the passing of Dora Sobush at the age of 91+ years old. After a lengthy stay at Blanche River Health (Kirkland District Hospital), she passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023.

Dora is survived by her son Larry. She was born in Kirkland Lake on July 12, 1931 to parents Arthur and Florence Ladouceur. Dora resided in Kirkland Lake her whole life.

Dora was predeceased by her husband Clarence, by her father Arthur and her mother Florence. She was the last of the siblings. Dora was predeceased by brothers Lone, Babe and Fern, and sisters Helen and Annette.

Among Dora’s hobbies, some included walking, ceramics, knitting, needle point, gardening, crosswords, bingo and snow shoveling (go figure). Larry was able to talk her into watching sports and it wasn’t long before she loved the Blue Jays and then the Raptors. Unfortunately, as the years passed so did the hobbies but not her bingo! She will be sadly missed by the girls at the Kirkland Bingo Hall. Dora was a very independent person. She walked with two canes and was still doing her own groceries. She was still living on her own in her apartment.

I wish to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at the hospital for the care given to her. A special thanks goes out to Joanne Glemeus and Sheila Jack for the care they have shown towards Dora and for just being there to support us. You made a difficult time a little easier to bare.

Love you mom…

In keeping with Dora’s wishes, cremation has been arranged with Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative. There will be no funeral or visitation at this time.

I lived on Duncan for years and Doris was a very nice person. I was sad when she sold her house and I used to run into her downtown after that. Rest in peace Doris, you will be missed.
