MANUEL, Donald

1931 - 2017

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Donald Manuel on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his residence `His Happy Place` with his family by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Don was born in Kirkland lake December 14, 1931 to the late Percy & Lillian Ray (Liscumb). He was pre-deceased by his brothers Reg, Bob, George & Kenneth and his grandchildren Nancy & Trevor Metson and Kenneth Keith. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Corinne (Lively) and his children Linda (Greg) Benoit, Judy (Doug) Metson, Bob (Delores) Manuel, Gail (Richard) Keith, Carol (Brian) Judd and Connie (George) Martell. He will always be the most cherished Bumpa/Grampa to Jason (Shauna) Benoit, Derrick (Jennifer) Benoit, Tracy (Daniel) Savignac, Geoffry Bathie, David Bathie, Bryan Keith, Brent (Chelsea) Keith, Kristy (Rob) Julien, Tammy (Brad), Bartley, Kim (Ted) Comba, Stephanie (Pete) Iedema, Katelin (Justin) Kelly, Andrew Martell, Yuki Martell and 17 great grandchildren. His many stories and words of wisdom will never be forgotten. Don spent most of his working career as a truck driver starting at the age of 14 for Walter Little. He was most happy working for himself driving his log truck. He could always be found outside puttering as there was always something to be done. The family would like to thank Pauline Wnuk & Hali Weaving for their care and compassion. To Dr. Kenneth Buttoo, there are no words to express our gratitude. Your care has been remarkable. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You. To Kristy (Bumpas girl) you went above and beyond in caring for him so he could be where he felt safe. You are his angel on this earth. Thank you to the McDonald Funeral Home for making this difficult time a little easier. As per Don`s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in his memory. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
