Domenic D’Andrea,

DOMENIC D’ANDREA,

2021

D’ANDREA, Domenic – Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at The Teck Pioneer Residence on Tuesday, November 29 at the age of 88. Domenic was born in Timmins and moved to Kirkland Lake at the age of 2 where he lived for the next 81 years on the corner of Station Rd and Gov’t Rd E.Beloved husband of Dolores (nee Costello), they recently celebrated an amazing 65 years of marriage. He was pre-deceased by his parents Nicoletta and Victorino D’Andrea. Domenic adored his family: Carol Ann (Matthew, Michael); Michael (deceased 1989); Robert (Barbara Nickoloff); Larry (Michelle, Justin and Jamie); Beverley (deceased 2001 Randy Fox, Rylee, Steve Wilson, Gracie, Findley, Mackenzie, Jasmine, Dylan and Spencer); Frances (Glen Huard, Nick and Alexis); Marilyn (Hank Appleman, Erin, Erika, Matthew, Destinee and Emily). His siblings, sister Lena and Albert Mendicino (deceased); sister Gina (deceased) and husband Louis Blais; sister Doreena and husband Joe Pavan; brother Ed and wife Margaret and his sister-in-law Arlene Benedetti (deceased); many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also loved his furry side-kick, Trooper.Domenic devoted his spiritual life to the Holy Name of Jesus Parish where he was involved in many aspects of service. He was a dedicated and fun-loving, husband, father, Papa/Nono. From countless car rides to get ice-cream and feed the ducks as well as, many family vacations, he always cherished having his family together. He spent hours creating his wooden ducks and chairs and participated in many parades, costume parties, skiing, skating and creating ice sculptures. Domenic also loved playing the accordion and was so happy entertaining young and old.Domenic dedicated much of his time to many service groups: the Knights of Columbus, the Italo Canadian Club, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Museum Board. One of his greatest accomplishments and the one he is famous for is being one of the founding members of the Sausage Club. He and his life long friend, Dick McNamara, and a group of wonderful men helped to raise funds for numerous clubs and charities in the area making the best sausage there is! He quickly became known as the “Sausage King” of Kirkland Lake which he was so proud to be called. We would like to thank the community of Kirkland Lake for the blanket of medical care provided to our family over the years. Our family will forever be grateful. Kindest thanks to his home for the last 5 years…the Teck Pioneer Residence and all the staff for providing such loving and compassionate care. Along with his wife, the residents and staff became their dear friends.Domenic lived a good life and his priority was always to love……love his God…..love his wife and family…..love his friends……love his community and just love life!Service Information

Delores and family, My childhood memories are scattered with the D’Andrea family from Holy Name Church, to Knights of Columbus Christmas parties, to that house getting decorated for every occasion, to arriving at the door to pick up fresh sausages and being so happy to visit with Domenic and Delores whenever we met, mostly at funerals. It’s people like them who have made KL the place we all love to come home to. Cheers to Domenic for a life well lived!

Delores & Family, My deepest condolences for the loss of your cherished husband, father and grandfather. His faith was always strong that his presence is still around. Years ago my children were the recipients of many acts of kindness by the Members of the Italo Canadian Club at The Belvedere hall. I think HE (Dom) ran the place. Lol. Always in good spirits and never without a smile. May he rest in peace with those who greeted him at the pearly gates. Rhea Larente & Family

Dear Dolores, if Gerry was here he would reminisce te ties spent at Jordan Lake when Dominic put his effort into creating a beautiful beach for the WIDDIFIELD children and your kids. Many, many beautiful memories during those growing years and to think now,Riley gets to spend wonderful summer days with her children. Keeping the cottages in the individual families has been a blessing. Dominic and you showed us the real meaning if a Christian family. Thank you for being such wonderful neighbours at Jordan Lake. Will be paying my respects tomorrow. In Christ’s love. The WIDDIFIELD, Langlois families.

Wendorf family, March 1, 2021

I spent so much time at 2 Station Road in the ’60s, with my good friend, Mike, that I think Dom might’ve considered me as his eighth kid. Throughout that time, he was like a second father. So gregarious and generous towards me at all times, even when he busted Mike and I as we raided his stash of homemade sausage and red wine (once to raise cash to get back into the basement poker game!). Great memories of a very good man. So, I choose to celebrate his legacy…

Rick Doyon, March 1, 2021

One of my best childhood memories was having the privilege to live across the street from one of the best family’s I ever met. We were also privileged to be neighbors at the cottage. (Jordan Lake). I was always fascinated by how close your family kept. Mister D’andrea was always so nice and always made me (everybody) laugh. To Misses D’andrea and all the kids I’m so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Mister D’andrea and of course the rest of the family. THANK-YOU so much for all the good times. Rest in peace. GILLES LAUZON
