Diane Doyon (nee Guppy),

DIANE DOYON (NEE GUPPY),

2021

Our hearts are breaking at the loss of Diane (Guppy) Doyon on Friday, August 2nd, 2019 in Kirkland Lake surrounded by her loving family and wonderful friends. She was born in North Bay on February 26th, 1946, daughter of the late Leonard and Laurette (Dufresne) Guppy. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Doyon who was definitely one of a kind. She was the proud and loving mother of David (Salli) Doyon of Naples, Florida, Danielle Doyon of Kirkland Lake, Dustin Doyon (Deborah) and cherished daughter in law Stacey Doyon all of Collingwood. She will be wholeheartedly missed by her precious grandchildren Tyrah and Ashton. She is survived by her brother Norman (Cathy) Guppy of Powassan, and sisters Debbie (Raymond) Charette and Gina (Guy) Langis, both of North Bay.Diane grew up in Kirkland Lake, attended KLCVI then followed her lifelong passion of becoming an elementary school teacher. She was absolutely adored by her many students during her 27 years of teaching and still fondly remembered by many of them. In her spare time, Diane was very active with her baseball and curling friends making unforgettable memories. She spent countless hours in hockey arenas and baseball diamonds cheering on her children and their many friends. The years of owning the Fed brought an abundance of laughter, incredible friendships and numerous tales that have been shared repeatedly over the years. She was also known to indulge in shenanigans with her very close friends Jane, Beth and Diana aka the YaYas. In her retirement years, she enjoyed peaceful times at Nettie Lake with Pete and the dogs, followed by moving to Florida to spend fun filled days in the sun with David and Tyrah. She returned to North Bay to enjoy quality time with her father and her siblings. “Gramma Di”, as she was affectionately known by many children, will always be remembered for the countless hours spent making “reindeer food” for Christmas and hosting special Pinterest craft sessions.Gramma Di earned her wings and leaves behind an amazing legacy. This is not a goodbye, but merely a “til we meet again”. Forever loved.Celebration of Life:French Family Funeral Home

Diane and I were joined at the hip, in early 60’s. We were both soul sisters and I spent many overnights with her and her family, in their home. We played basketball and football, volleyball and even hockey, at KlCVI together. Even travelled together on a school bus, to Cochrane in a snow storm to play Sports. So many stories. Foot ball and hockey, was a male sport, but KLCVI, allowed the gals to compete against the men. A true first, back then. Will miss you so much. God heart sympathies go out to your family and friends. You are the best.

Danielle, Dustin & David We are both so sad to hear about your Mom. She too was one of a kind just like your Dad. They were like two peas in a pod, hard to separate one from the other. Both played such a big role in our lives from standing up for us when we got married to being a great support to us as young parents when our son Dustin was born. Even though we lived away for many years they made our summer visits to K.L. special as they were so welcoming and just fun to be around. We are so blessed to have had your Mom in our lives as well as our Dad even for a short time, our memories will live on forever. Now hopefully you can find some joy in knowing that they are together again.

Di was my favourite grade one teacher when I worked at Sacred Heart. She was so good to her children, patient, loving and kind. We shared many, many chats, first in the gestetner room, then our cars ;), we never solved any world problems but she made me laugh and I treasure those days as I did her. She helped many a kiddo make that tough transition from K to 1, everyone wanted to walk and/or hold her hand at recess…those were the days. Rest in peace Di, you did make a difference! xo
