ARNEY, Diane

1941 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Diane Arney (née Doyon) on November 17, 2024, in Cochrane, Alberta, at the age of 83. Though she spent her later years in Alberta, Diane remained a proud Kirkland Laker at heart. She was born to Paul and Jeanne Doyon (née Latandresse) on February 2, 1941, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and was preceded in death by her sister Pauline and her brother Johnny Doyon (Julia).

Diane will be deeply missed by her husband of 64 years, Wayne; her son Paul (Kathy); and her grandchildren, Kristin Arney (Chris) and David Arney (Lauren). She is also survived by her sister, Cecile Hockley (Bill), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family who were fortunate to know and love her.

Diane was a woman of warmth, wit, and quiet resilience. Known for her subtle humor and tenacious spirit, she faced life's challenges, including a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s disease, with grace and strength. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—volunteering her time, cooking, skiing, fishing, knitting, and sharing walks with those she loved.

Family and friends were at the heart of Diane's life, and her generosity and no-nonsense approach left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. Her warmth and determination inspired all who knew her.

A private family service will take place in Canmore, Alberta, with interment in Kirkland Lake at a later date.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake, Origins in Canmore, and the wonderful team at Bethany Cochrane for their support and compassion during Diane’s final years.

Those who knew Diane will carry cherished memories of her in their hearts, ensuring her love and legacy live on. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army in her memory would be greatly appreciated.

We've missed having Diane in our lives for the past few years. Our Euchre luncheons were so much fun. Diane and Annice would take turns hosting.....we would go into the Arney house and about 3 weeks later Wayne and Diane would come out to Crystal Beach. We would start at 10am with a couple of hands, break for lunch including a little wine, which always made Diane funnier. Then back to more euchre. Diane and I loved to beat the guys!
Such wonderful memories which we will always treasure. We think of you often Wayne and send our love to you at this sad time.
