ANTILA, Carter

1991 - 2011

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Carter John Antila who died tragically on July 30th, 2011 Carter will be greatly missed by not only his family and friends from this area, but also by the friends he has made from all over the world. His easy going attitude, ready smile, and his love of life was infectious to everyone. After high school graduation, he ventured to Banff, Alberta. He spent the last two years working at Sunshine Village, where he not only worked and lived on the mountain, but also fulfilled his passion for snow boarding, everyday. Prior to returning to New Liskeard for the summer, he went on a road trip with two friends; where he spent time snow boarding on Mount Hood in Oregon, surfing in Tofino on Vancouver Island and sea kayaking in Anchorage, Alaska. After Alaska, Carter was so excited to get back to New Liskeard for Canada Day to see his friends and family, that they drove non stop, day and night, until he was home. Carter is survived by his parents Jack and Shelley; brother Taylor and grandfather Leo. Carter's funeral mass will be held at Our Mother Perpetual Help Church at 11 am on Saturday, August 6th. The service will be followed by a luncheon, which will be held in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, it is the family's wish to have all donations put towards a memorial skate park. Please make donations payable to The Temiskaming Foundation/ Carter Antila and forward cheques to Perrin Funeral Chapel or The Temiskaming Foundation at 24 Armstrong Street, Box 160 New Liskeard, Ontario P0J 1P0.
