MORRIS, Bruce

1930 - 2014

It is with a deep sense of loss that the family announces the peaceful passing of Bruce Albert Morris on Wednesday June 25, 2014 in his 84th year, after a three and a half year battle with leukemia. Son of the late Donald and Jean Morris, Bruce is survived by his best friend and wife of 59 years Nancy, children Brian (Karen Marshall) and Ann Belisle (Carl), and grandchildren Bradley (Marie) and Robyn (Jean) Belisle. Also survived by his sister Mary Mueller (Arnold) and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his brother Stewart and 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley Morris, Anita Lundberg and Carol Fraser. Bruce grew up in Brockville and came to Kirkland Lake in 1951 to teach in both the elementary and secondary school systems, retiring after 35 years. Throughout his adult life he was an active volunteer with many groups - Teachers` Federation, student groups, Lung Association, Canadian Ski Patrol, Meals-on-Wheels, Senior Games and the Encore Club. Physical activity was an important part of his life and the days on the ski hill were among his happiest. Bruce was an avid reader, loved to travel and was always available when someone needed an attentive ear. He was a loving and patient husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He very much enjoyed his life and the many people he encountered and would wish to be remembered but not grieved. Cremation has taken place and following Bruce`s wishes, there will be no service. Memorial donations to the Sudbury Cancer Centre, the Kirkland and District Hospital or the Encore Club would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca
