I often think of Brian as a legendary being with knowledge of self and surroundings. He was a brave man with a complex past. He let me in his home with open arms and taught me skills I would use the rest of my life. He had a warrior attitude and a vision for life some had a hard time understanding. All I can say is he’s a LEGEND. those who knew him would agree. His life stories were astonishing. Brian rest in peace and you can see now that I always encouraged your amazing daughter to reach out to you when we were together and never kept her away from you.. Past is the past god bless Brian Pirie.

This is way way tooo late but… Brian you were my fist love. Those few years way back when in the 70’s when we found each other and you took me in to your home with Harold and Onnie [ Cookie] You taught me how to trap, skin, shoot, look for signs and live in a tent during muskrat season. We hopped trains all over northern Ontario. We canoed and portaged and fished. I lost you and you broke my heart but I learned so much and never forgot you. I too named my first son Justin! I am sad that we didn’t stay in touch. I just found you again. Ten minutes ago. rest in peace my warrior. Sandra Bailie {Pelland}

Brian would walk down to our house and say hello sometimes. About two years ago I was moving a piano into our home. Brian pitched in and helped to lift it with some other men. We took him some fudge and cookies at Chrismas. He didn’t answer the door so I left them there with some Salvation Army magazines. I hope that Brian knew we were thinking of him and hoped he would get feeling better.

To the family of Brian Pirie, I extend my condolence. Imagine the time when “all those in the grave will be resurrected” to an earth where there will be no more sickness, pain and death. (John 5:28, 29; Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:4) For more information, write to Bethel, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, New York 11201 for a “free copy” of the “Bible Teach” book. When received, read chapter 7 along with your Bible. The information contained, will help you see that soon you can see Brian again right on a Paradise earth.

Dear Brian; Your family and mine were ones of having father’s who adored the bush and made a living from it; and we were fortunate enough to be exposed to this as children and enjoy what our father’s have taught us to both enjoy ourselves and share with our children. We are the same age and schoolmates in the town of Chapleau, god’s country as my dad calls it. Rest in Peace dear Brian and my heartfelt condolences to your family left behind. Something tells me that when they walk among nature, you will be there with them somehow, whether in a breeze or in the water guiding them safely along…

Our deepest sympathies go out to Brian’s children, Justin and Brianne as well as their families. I grew up with Brian on Mill Road in Chapleau. I spent many a day with his parents, Harold and Onie…cooking, cleaning, running errands and helping out. It was a very busy household. Onie taught me how to cook wild game and I in turn would make Ukrainian Food for them. They always wanted me to make Parohye (perogies)and Holupsie (our special recipe cabbage rolls),and Borsch especially Harold!! They were like parents to me, a second family just down the road and Brian, at times, another brother. A family that opened their hearts and home to all! We spent more time at Brian’s house than we did at our own home!! ….and got into trouble with our own parents many a time for doing so! My brother Ricky spent half of his childhood life growing up with the Pirie Family. He spent the majority of the time in the bush with Harold and Brian tending to their trap-line, hunting, fishing and learning the trade. Childhood memories that we have always cherished and will continue to do so. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Brian. May you now and forever rest in peace. I miss you. I’ll always remember that look in your eye, that spark. There’s no one like you. You had a way about you that when you were near you knew you were in the presence of a great man. I miss your wisdom around fire and your straight forward attitude on life. I wish you peace and rest. I’m writing this now and I don’t know why. I’m hoping you’ll see this message and know that I love you and I’m sorry for all things left unsaid. There’s a piece of you in your children and your blood lives on in your grandson. All my love and respect.
