BEN LIGHT, Benjamin John

1990 - 2016

It is with heavy hearts that the Light family announces the sudden passing of Benjamin John Light, at the age of 26 at his home in Haileybury. Benjamin was predeceased by his loving mother Helen Light in July of 2010. Benjamin is sorely missed by his proud father John Light (Charlton), sisters Maureen Light (Kyle) (New York City), Glenna Gaudette (Jason) (Earlton), Allison Doyon (Marc) (Earlton) and Claire Levson (Timothy) (Calgary, AB) . Benjamin adored his nieces Alexis and Taryn, nephew Wesley, and goddaughter Maddison. Also left to mourn is his caring girlfriend Shawna Holmes of Englehart. Benjamin was very close to his cousins Jasmine Light, Caleb Light (Erin), Genny Valery (Bertrand), Treva Courtney (Cory), Nathan Light and Lance Jakob (Jennifer). Other loving family includes numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Benjamin was born on January 5, 1990 and raised in Savard Township, adored by his four older sisters. He attended Charlton-Savard Public School and Englehart High School. At age 17, he spent one summer at the Wade Lake Junior Ranger Camp, east of Cochrane. Following high school, he spent a year living and working as a machinist in Germany, on a youth mobility visa. He returned from Germany in 2009, and attended Georgian College, graduating with honours in the spring of 2011. Benjamin's passions included playing guitar, white water kayaking, fishing, camping, swimming and diving. Benjamin's love of the outdoors and travel included trips to England, Switzerland, Hawaii and Cuba. Benjamin continued in his chosen career, working for wonderful people at Beta-Tech in Barrie and Time Ltd. in Haileybury. Benjamin will be remembered for his sense of humour, his crazy curly hair, his natural musical ability and his genuine loving demeanour. Benjamin's family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Charlton Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences may be left at www.perrinfuneralchapel.com
