After a five-month illness, Beatrice Bennett died at the Temiskaming Hospital on January 27, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Milberta, Ontario, on June 11, 1920, to Charles and Sarah Phillips. Educated at Highland School, she married Fred Bennett in Milberta on August 24, 1939. Mrs. Bennett was a housewife and mother who also babysat and took in boarders. She loved children and she loved laughing and practical jokes, playing cards, quilting, sewing, crafts, knitting, gardening, canning and spending time with family. The more people around her, the happier she was. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Church. Mrs. Bennett was predeceased by her children Evelyn and Charles Bennett, husband Fred on May 21, 1987, in New Liskeard, parents Charles and Sarah Phillips, and brother Lloyd Phillips. She is survived by her children Frances (Bob Woods), Catherine (Art Handley), Sheila (Doug Conroy), Jim (Deanna) Bennett, Dorothy (Bruce Sweet), Garry (Sharron) Bennett, Gail (George Newton); 36 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 12 great great-grandchildren, sister Francis Eddyvean as well as nieces and nephews. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard and was conducted by Reverend Micol Cottrell at St. Paul's United Church. Pallbearers were Jim Bennett, Garry Bennett, George Newton, Bob O'Krafka, Art Handley and Ralph Grabowski. Burial will be at the New Liskeard Cemetery. Relatives and friends from Cambridge, North Bay, Orangeville, Hanover, Sault Ste.
