Ludwick, Andy (Andrew)
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3rd at his home in Kirkland Lake at the age of 88.
Andy was known as ‘Captain Andy’ by many of his friends and everyone knew that fishing, camping and hunting were always on the top of his list when it came to weekends and holidays. Andy would fish from morning till night with his beloved fishing partner and wife Lorraine or with his long-time friends travelling to fish and hunt camps all over Ontario and Quebec. Lorraine and Andy travelled from the Yukon to PEI and down to the Florida Keys and whether it was pickerel, pike, bass, lake trout, salmon, swordfish or marlin, there were always great stories to tell after each and every trip….especially about those big ones that got away! Andy also enjoyed hunting moose, deer and partridge with his friends and would cook up a great feast to be enjoyed by all whether at the hunt camp or at their home.
Andy worked with Northern Telephone as an Installation & Repair Technician for almost 35 years and gained lifetime friendships with many of his co-workers and Northern Telephone families within the Kirkland Lake area.
He was a proud veteran who served with the armed forces overseas during World War II and has been a long-standing member of the Kirkland Lake Legion, Branch 87 where he spent many a day and evening playing euchre, crib and darts with so many of his friends.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank a very special family friend, Gary Simpson who has always been there for Andy as a fishing partner, as a friend and when needed as a care giver. Thank you Gary for being such a good friend to Andy.
Andy was a great friend, a loving son, brother, husband, step-father, grandfather and uncle. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends and will always be in our fondest memories.
