Amanda Gannon-Carisse,

AMANDA GANNON-CARISSE,

2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce Amanda’s passing on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Kirkland & District Hospital with family at her side. She is predeceased by her grandparents Frank Judd, Rolande (née LeClerc) and Edward Gannon. Amanda is survived by her beloved husband Clint; her loving parents Norman and Darlene (née Judd) and her dear grandmother Isabel Judd and great grandmother Lilian Lindsay. Amanda will forever be cherished and deeply missed by her siblings Louise (Jean Claude Guay), Norman Jr., Tyler and her two nieces whom she adored, Lilly and Lilah Gannon-Guay; her 2 babies (dogs) Maggie and Mya who will miss her terribly; her mother and father-in-law Gay Gibson and Wayne Carisse; her sister-in-law Corina Carisse (Brandon Doherty); her brother-in-law Wayne (Melissa) Leonard. Amanda will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, many best friends and extended family. Amanda was a business accountant, soon to be a chartered accountant, and was employed with Ross Pope and Company. Tom Gannon was a great inspiration to her. She was very thankful for him and greatly appreciated the time and guidance he provided to her over the years. Tom was like a second father to her. The Gannon and Carisse families will welcome friends at the MONETTE & FRENCH FUNERAL HOME (450 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N3L1) on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 from Holy Name of Jesus Parish at 10:30 a.m. with Susan Berlingeri officiating. Amanda will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery in the Spring of 2011. Donation in her memory may be made to the House of Kin (1889 Regent Street, Sudbury, ON., P3E 3Z7), Timiskaming Palliative Care Network (145 Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3P4) or to the Daffodil Lodge (41 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury, ON., P3E 5J1). Amanda and I got to know each other very well over the past couple of years. She was so sweet and extremely welcoming when I joined the Ross Pope team, and our work relationship quickly blossomed into a truly great friendship. We spent a lot of time working together, and we spent even more time talking together. She was our little social butterfly of the office, migrating from office to office to visit everyone, always genuinely interested in what was going on in her fellow co-workers’ lives. We spent a lot of time in each other’s offices discussing upcoming audits and accounting issues, but mainly talking about what we did on the weekend, telling funny stories, picking out clothes for her dogs Maggie & Mya, and she was always showing me all the wedding planning stuff she’d been working on. When we would hear someone walking down the hall, our conversations would quickly turn to “debits, credits, and deferred revenue.” When our little “work chats” started to get a little too long, we would head back to our respective offices (which were side by side), and continue our conversations by telephone or via email. One of my favourite memories of Amanda was about a year ago, around Christmas time. Her and I had decided that we were going to find a crafty, economical way to give gifts to our friends and family. We decided that we were going to make “cookies in a jar” – you know, with all the dry ingredients lining a nicely decorated jar, and the recipient just has to add the wet ingredients and bake. So Amanda went out and purchased all the jars (we’d made around 2 dozen or so), and we gathered all the ingredients for the most fabulous chocolate chip cookies ever. We planned to meet at her house one evening. When I showed up, she had dinner already cooked for me. She was always so thoughtful like that. We set everything out on the table, and started our cookie jar experience. Turns out the jars were too small for all of the ingredients, so we could only fit one third of the chocolate chips required. So when you baked them, you only got one chocolate chip per cookie. We’d done about 4 jars when we realized, wow, we do not have enough flour. So Amanda runs out to her in-laws and grabs another bag of flour. On about jar 6, we realized we didn’t have enough sugar. So out we go to buy a ton more sugar. On jar 14, we run out of flour again. So out we go, making a quick pit-stop at Federal Variety to grab a couple bags of penny candies (her favourite!). You get the picture. I think we had to go out and buy more ingredients at least 5 times throughout the evening. By late into the night, we were done filling the jars. We took one look at each other, and busted out laughing. We had flour in our hair, on our clothes, on our faces… there was flour on the dogs, on the floor, stuck in the cracks of the table. It was EVERYWHERE! We could not stop laughing. We laughed and laughed, tried to clean it up and made it worse, and then laughed some more. 25kg of flour, 11 bags of sugar, and a truckload of chocolate chips later, it would have been cheaper to buy gifts. But not nearly as fun. I am going to miss you, friend. Amanda G, things will never be the same without you here. It was a privilege to get to know you, and an honour to call you my friend. As one of our friends has said, I’m sure you’ve picked out your best bikini and are now finally able to enjoy those beautiful Florida sunshine rays. xoxo

God saw she was getting tired, a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered “come to me.” With tearful eyes you watched her and saw her pass away. Although you loved her dearly, you couldn’t make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands laid to rest. God broke your heart to prove to you ..he only takes the BEST. Thinking of you today and always Paulette

Brenda Szalajko, March 1, 2021

Darlene, Norman, Louise, Norm Jr., Tyler ,and Clint, There are so few words to say at a time like this. They say it takes time to heal, but when you lose someone you love so much, and is so young, I don’t think a parent ever gets over it. I pray for you all that things will get a little easier, and just knowing she is not in pain anymore should be a small condolence on your part. At least I hope so!!! We pray for your family that this will get easier for all of you. Go on with your life as best you can, because I know your beautiful girl would have wanted that for you all. Just think that she is now in the loving arms of her grandparents, memere, and the rest of the family in heaven, waiting for the family to be together again. Until you meet again.!!!! “Rest in Peace”” beautiful Amanda!! You will live on in the hearts of the many who knew you and loved you. We will pray for you and your family. Love Your cousins Linda, Veronica, and Christie (& families)
