With heartfelt sorrow, the family of Shelva Rodgers announces her passing at the age of 67 on June 5th, 2014. Predeceased by her parents, Alden and Jean Rodgers, she will be sadly missed by her sister, Valerie (Mike), brothers Ron (Joyce), Rick (Darlene) and Ray (Michelle), nieces and nephews – Andrea, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Andrew, Leisa, Melissa, Stephen, Anna, Leaman, Sarah, Jonathon, Dayna, Mackenzie and Zach; great nieces and nephews – Jake, Josh, JJ, Leanna and Mckenna. Shelva dedicated her life to education. She graduated from Englehart High school and then obtained her teacher’s certificate at North Bay Teacher’s College. She moved to Kapuskasing to teach at St. Patrick’s Elementary School for 32 years. She then retired and moved back home to Savard Township. She enjoyed her cats, gardening, reading, watching the space channel and visits from her family and friends. To honour Shelva’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Cremation will be arranged by McDonald’s Funeral Home. Special thanks to all the staff at Englehart Hospital for the care, comforting words and thoughtful care for the family at her death and especially to Shelva for the many months that she spent with them. The family invites friends and family to join them on Sunday June 8th from 2-4 pm for an informal celebration at Shelva’s home.
