IRENE AMELIA LAPLANTE,
LAPLANTE, Irene Amelia – celebrated her 94th birthday in July. Irene was predeceased by: her loving husband, Romeo, her young grandson, Brian, and recently by her dear sister Vivian. She was pleased that she made the decision to move in her own apartment, 6 years ago, where she lived independently till her death on Friday, August 10, 2012; the past six years of her life brought her many new friends and enjoyable experiences. She was a serious cribbage player; it was only a week before Irene died, that Terri would be able to boast that she finally “skunked” Mom in a “game” of crib. When it came to crib Irene loved to win. She enjoyed knitting, shopping and reading the books which younger people enjoy. Irene`s family would willingly watch `The Young and the Restless` with her; however, sitting through reruns of `The Lawrence Welk Show` was a bit more difficult. She was a mother to Gerald (Gloria) Bacon, and Theresa (Jack) Royal; the proud grandmother to Doug, Debbie, Paul, and Barbara; a great-grandmother to Ryan, David, Shaylyn, Nyhia, Justin, Alisia, and JP; and a sister to Rita and Blanche. Irene had a very positive disposition; she knew she was 94 and always lived life one day at a time. A Memorial Service celebrating Irene’s life will be held in the `Common Room` at 25 Tweedsmuir Road, Kirkland Lake on Wednesday August 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army – Food Bank (6 Sylvanite Avenue, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 2C7).Offer Condolence for the family of Irene Amelia Laplante
