PARKES, Helen Margaret (née Brace) – It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Helen Margaret Parkes (née Brace) on Saturday, July 17th, 2010 in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband William Joseph Parkes in 1982, her parents Tressa & Victor Brace, sisters & brothers in law Louise (Jim) Welch, Elsie (Robert) Hutchison, Evelyn Brace and Owen McGuire, brothers & sisters in law James (Mildred) Brace, Albert (Joan) Brace and Robert (Ruby) Brace. Survived by her children Judy (John)Vermette, Ken (Sharyn) Parkes, Bill (Ruth) Parkes, Susan (Ray) Perrier, Vickie (Clem) Demers, Brian Parkes; grandchildren Lori Ann Parkes (Danny Disano), Charlotte Walton (Bill), Shawn Perrier (Karyn), Michelle Parkes (Will), Jason Parkes (Danielle), Jeffery Perrier and Ashley Parkes (Zach) as well as a great grandchild Tristan Walton. She is also survived by her sister Jean McGuire and many nieces and nephews. Helen enjoyed her volunteer work at the Legion and was extremely proud to be named “Legionnaire of the Year” for 2009. She will be missed by her Legion friends, especially Roy, Wilf and Jackie. Family will welcome friends at the MONETTE & FRENCH FUNERAL HOME (450 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake,ON., P2N 3L1) on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from the “Teck-Hughes” Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Naylor officiating. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 87 (P.O. Box 323, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3H7).Offer Condolence for the family of Helen Parkes

To Judy my long time friend and, my Maid of honour 43 years ago, we go long ways, and friendship will always be there….Judy and family my thoughts are with you at this sad time….I remember the time I spent at your mom’s house…I remember many times that I would make her smile even if she did not have a great day…..Thinking of you all, and now she is probably sitting on a cloud,probably enjoying a bottle of brown pop with your dad,and Aunt Elsie… Oh my, oh my they have lots to chat and catching up to do….Hugs Rollie and Yvon….Marathon Ont…..
