Dear Jan and Pam, As I head to Round Lake this weekend, the passing of your Dad brings back so many memories of simpler times. My heart aches for you both. Every time I was in Kirkland Lake, I seemed to bump into Gerry and we would chat for awhile. He was a such a kind and caring soul and he will be missed.

Janice, Pam and families: It is with a very heavy heart that I write this condolence. As I read all of these beautiful messages regarding your wonderful dad, I am brought back to 1980 at which time, I was the attendance secretary at KLCVI. Your dad was a real gentleman, kind, considerate, always there by my side. I was so young when I started working at KLCVI and sometimes, the students would give me a hard time. Your dad was always listening and paying attention. When things were getting “out of control”, he would come out of his office, the strong and powerful man that he was and say, “Connie, is there a problem here?” I can just see the student “shaking in his/her boots”. LOL!!! He was very kind but his presence was sometimes intimidating. I had the opportunity a month ago to chat with him at the museum where we were attending a concert. We had a great conversation. He looked great and I did not even know he was ill. I will treasure this always. We always spoke at length when we saw each other. I (like a lot of others) will miss his smile, warmth and conversations. RIP Gerry Hunt. You were an incredible boss in the 80’s and a wonderful man.

Heartfelt condolences to Gerry’s family…coming from the Cooper family in Kitchener. Gerry’s wife ,Gail, and I were classmates at KLCVI a long time before Gerry appeared on the scene. Gerry and family lived for a number of years only one block away from my birth home in Swastika. Gerry and family would have been much closer friends with my younger brother Doug, who taught at KLCVI for a number of years. We hope his family receives all the LOVE and SUPPORT that they need at this sad time for all.

Dear Hunt Family, Deepest and sincere condolences for your loss. Mr. Hunt wax a gracious and classy man who I have fond memories.

Jan, Pam, and Families: Its hard for me to express my profound sense of loss, and as I read these pages, I sense that these feelings are very much shared. I grew up through Gerry, and he was one of those people , I say without reservation, who shaped my life. If there ever was a person who embodied “Wisdom, Integrity, and Skill” it was Gerry Hunt. As Gerry was retiring, and I was trying to fill his very large shoes, he gave me his touchstone … “Kids understand fair”. I tried never to forget. We are all richer having Gerry Hunt walk among us.

We are all truly richer for having met Mr. Hunt. Thank you for your guidance and example.

Gerry and I were classmates in Timmins High School . Later I had the pleasure of catching his pitches as we played in the Timmins Senior Fastball league. For many years we gathered as part of the Timmins Old Boys golf group, playing golf and socializing as only old friends can. His cheery smile, soft spoken disposition and pleasant countenance were always a delight. My sincere condolences go out to his family.

To the family and friends of Gerry: Upon reading the condolences of all those above, I asked myself, what more can I say? My sincere condolences to all his family and friends. Gerry was a kind, unselfish person thinking of and doing for others well ahead of himself. It is sad and sorrowful when we lose a wonderful person like Gerry, but we really have not lost him. His memories will live on in our hearts and with the grace of God, will be the eventual end to our sorrows. Gerry would not want it any other way. He had a strong faith in God and I always looked forward to his smile as he returned from Holy Communion at Sunday mass. Deepest Condolences Jan and Pam on the passing of your dad. I am so sad to hear he passed away. So many good memories both hanging out at your house and at school. I ran into him a couple times in Kirkland when I was home visiting over the years and he always had kind words and that beautiful smile when he saw me. He will be missed.

Dear Janice and Pam, It was so nice to spend time with your Dad while at the Centennial Reunion. He was such a fun man. It was with deep sorrow when we learned of Gerry’s passing. Our condolences to Jan, Pam and family. I first met Gerry as a grade nine student with a scheduled guidance appointment. Little did I know then, that I would spend a great deal of my time in my career as an educator working closely with him. I was indeed fortunate to have him as a Mentor. The experiences he shared, his words of wisdom and advice given were truly valued. His appreciation of and compassion for people were virtues that earned him the Love and Respect from all who crossed his path. I have many fond memories but one that is most memorable was the trip Shirley and I had with he and Gail to the Canadian Association of Principals in 1986. It was indeed an enjoyable, fun and learning experience. He will be dearly missed but what I will miss most is his valued friendship. Grief is the price we pay for Love. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Thanks so much Gerry for all you did in not only teaching and guiding so many to so much, but in being the true inspiration you were as a human being. Truly saddened to hear of Mr. Hunt’s passing. As a guidance counsellor, he was knowledgeable, compassionate and wise. He helped me and countless others get through high school and gave us a sense of what might lie beyond. I hadn’t thought of him in a long while, but am certainly thinking of him now and feeling a lot of gratitude. He made a difference.

My condolences to the immediate and extended family members. Mr. Hunt was my Gr. 9 home room teacher, 1955-6, M9A, in the basement, with water pipes running overhead. A couple of guys I remember are Garry Dans & Harold Mullins. Mr. hunt was a patient, caring, fair teacher with us minor miners.

Aww, I was so sorry to read about the passing of your dad Gerry, Jan and Pam. He was always such a kind man with a great ‘energy’ aka ‘spirit’ about him. I never saw him much after dear Andrew’s passing but his face on the posting still brought back wonderful memories. I have fond memories of Mr. Hunt at KLCVI. As a guidance counsellor, he tried his best to get me into university, but I foiled his best efforts. His wise counsel helped me in my career as a journalist and I remember him as a gentle and wise man.

I was so sad to her of Gerry’s passing. Condolences to his family and his many friends in Kirkland Lake. He was my guidance teacher in high school and just a lovely man. Ran into many times, over the years, in Kirkland and in Timmins. Always enjoyed a catch-up chat. Kirkland is losing another great person. RIP Gerry!
