Just learned of the passing of Ed Yamka. My sincere condolences. We worked together in ICU and PACU. Dr. Yamka helped in my orientation to become an ICU nurse. Assisting for the first time an intubation , he asked me for a Yankeur suction, I thought he was being smart, playing on his name. Little did I know that was the proper name for oral suction! Diane and family, I hope you are doing ok. Ann Allen

Although I didn’t get to meet any of the Yamka family when they lived in Kirkland Lake , I did hear about them through my dad, Mario Martignago who was a good friend of “Bill Yamka’s” ,so this goes back many years. My dad, who seldom needed medical attention back then, was so glad to have Dr. Yamka take care of him because he was Bill’s son and Bill’s son wouldn’t have difficulty understanding his broken English. My sincere condolences to the Yamka Families. RIP Dr. Yamka

Dear Jeffery and Lori, I want to extend my deepest condolences for your loss. Just to share a memory…I had not seen you father since I was a little girl and Baba Osachuk to me to Kirkland Lake (Kingkirkland) to visit Auntie Annie and Auntie Sophie (my mother was named after Sophie) Your father was just a young man then and got the task of taking me for a popsicle ….he was my hero that day……

I was filled with sadness when I learned of Ed’s passing. He was a colleague of mine for many years at EGH. His anesthetic prowess was exceptionable and while he could at times be irascible, his patients always came first. I will never forget the symphony of music that graced his OR. He was not shy socially and I will fondly remember his house parties, particularly one lobster roast. He lived life, something to which more of us should strive. This is how I will remember my friend……Ed Yamka. My condolences to all, especially Diane. Your were his rock over the years and I know you will miss him sorely.

I am saddened to hear of Ed’s passing. I knew him as an intern at Toronto western Hospital and as part of our medical family at Etobicoke General in Toronto. He was a good anesthetist, an intelligent and interesting man, and made the world’s best Caesar salad dressing. I don’t know his K.L. family but send condolences to them. To Dianne and Kim, his family for so many years, so sorry that you have lost a special man. He will be missed.
