Bruce Turcott,

BRUCE TURCOTT,

2021

Bruce’s story began on February 17, 1944, as the son of the late Walter and Florence Turcott.  Born and raised in the Kearns and Virginiatown area, Bruce settled in Virginiatown with his wife Dorothy of 52 years and raised his children Raymond and Karen there.  A quick onset of Alzheimer’s disease forced Bruce to leave his home earlier this year for the care he needed.Although this disease took so much of him away from us, Bruce managed to know and recognize the love of his life Dorothy and Daddy’s little girl Karen right to the end.Bruce was a wonderful man who was tremendously loved, is forever missed and will always be cherished.Bruce worked for many years in the mill at the Kerr Addison Mine and then later with the McGarry Township Works Department until his retirement.  Bruce also served proudly as a volunteer firefighter with the McGarry Fire Department for over 40 years.Bruce loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, loved his Montreal Canadiens and his Toronto Blue Jays.  He could always be counted on for a clever little rhyme, an off colour song or a good natured insult when it was needed.Predeceased by his parents and his son Raymond, Bruce is deeply missed by his wife Dorothy, Daughter Karen Armstrong (Jim Fox) of Sesekinika, brothers Earl (late Mary) of Little Britain, Lloyd (Lillian) of Kirkland Lake and Brian (Cindy) of King Kirkland.  Bruce will also be remembered by his brothers in law Vern Hart (Linda) of Elora, Lloyd Hart (Patricia) of Kirkland Lake as well as many nieces and nephews.Bruce took great pride in his grandchildren Thomas Armstrong and Amanda Turcott, and step-grandchildren Ella and Jude Fox.  There is no denying that when his grandson Thomas was born in 2004, he was truly his whole world, his heart and his joy.  Thomas was Bruce’s “Bud” and Bruce became Thomas’s “Pucka”. They may have been separated by generations but they were still each other’s best friends.Bruce will be missed by all who knew him.  Safe journey Bruce.  Until we meet again.Cremation has taken place.  In keeping with Bruce’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. DONATIONS:

So Sorry Dorothy. Hard to hear about another of our generation to leave us. Growing up in a small town we know and play with each other and will always remember the good times. Bruce was also a 20 year member of the McGarry Royal Canadian Legion branch 384. We are all sad to see him go.

Buzz and I were sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing, It is always sad and difficult to learn of a friend’s death. He was highly relied on when he was on Public Works in McGarry Township attending countless emergencies. He was on the Volunteer Fire Department as well very willing to help. My father always said, God gives us roses so we can have memories at Christmas. He had a pretty awesome attitude. Dorothy we hold you in our prayers and never hesitate to let us know when you need help.

Nyla and Buzz, le 1 mars 2021

Dorthy and Family , this truly was a sad read for me – growing up , working along side and watching his progression and then regressing was truly heartbreaking . Bruce gave me many opportunities in my time through employment , and being my neighbor with many garage talks both at work and at home . He will truly be missed.

To the Turcott Family, I was sadden to hear of Bruce’s passing. I remember him so well with his big smile and most of the time laughing eyes! He loved to tease me growing up with his stories and jokes. I remember seeing/meeting him for the first time when I first started the newspaper route and I was a tad scared as I perceived him to be a giant (compared to me at the time..lol) but he helped me quite a bit with learning English as many have while doing my paper route. He will be fondly remembered. May you find Peace in knowing he is in a better place and console yourself in your tender loving memories.

Mireille Paquet, le 1 mars 2021

Diane Charbonneau, le 1 mars 2021

Bruce was a great neighbour. While cutting the grass or snowblowing or blowing we would stop to solve some of the worlds problems. As a Volunteer Fireman he went to many call outs and put his life on the line at some of them . The deadly disease of Alzheimer’s took him a lot too soon. He deserved a longer retirement.

Merdy Armstrong, le 1 mars 2021

so Sorry for your loss
