FLORA JO-ANNE (nee AMBROSE) GLOVER died July 25, 2021, age 73, at the Kirkland and District Hospital, Kirkland Lake, Ontario with her husband Bill and son Rob by her side. “Jo-Ann” was born August 7, 1947 in Midland Ontario to Margaret Lorraine “Peg” Murday, a registered nurse, and John Kitchener Ambrose, a journeyman electrician, both parents predeceased. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, William Alan “Bill” Glover, of Kenogami and three loving children; Christi Erin Loughrey (husband Ned) of Cantley QC, William Michael “Bill” Glover (wife Lynn) of Ottawa and Robert John Patrick “Rob” Glover (wife Kate) of Shepherd Lake. Jo-Ann is also survived by 7 adoring grandchildren: Rowan and Quinn Glover, Sam Loughrey, twins Jack and Charlie Loughrey, Billy and Peter Glover. Also survived by her only sibling, an older brother John Steggles Ambrose (wife Diane) of Toronto, plus nieces and nephews.
Jo-Ann was a 1965 graduate of Midland High School and the Midland Business School before working as a stenographer at Sun Life in Toronto. She returned to her hometown of Midland to work at the Motorola Plant and the new RCA plant where she met her future husband Bill and married him in Sudbury on April 15, 1968. Together they had 3 children and lived in many mining communities across Ontario, British Columbia, Yukon, Montana and Arizona. Jo-Ann was a selfless and nurturing mother, a cook and baker extraordinaire, a gardener with a true green thumb who loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Jo-Ann returned to school, where at age 40, she earned a diploma in Food Management at Northern College. She was a soccer coach, s Girl Guide leader in Stewart BC, founding member of the Elliot Lake Daycare Cooperative, founding secretary-treasurer of the Kirkland Lake Ringette Association, a tuck shop volunteer, member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Kirkland and District Hospital and more recently Treasurer of the Lillico Road Association. Jo-Ann and Bill travelled together to all 10 Canadian Provinces, all 50 US States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. In 2014 they designed and built a retirement home on their cottage property on Lake Kenogami, where Jo-Ann nurtured her flower gardens, enjoyed baking, boating, long nature walks and family barbeques. She will be missed dearly by family and friends for her loyalty, her homemade jams, her artistic flare, her fashion sense, her quick wit and her beauty, inside and out. Arrangements entrusted to the French Family Funeral Home and a private family service is planned. Donations can be made in Jo-Ann’s name to the Kirkland and District Hospital Foundation.
My sincere condolences to you Bill and your family. I loved my visits with Joanne. She will be missed. Love Brenda and Gaston xo

Gladys and I were sadden to learn of Jo-Anne's passing. There are so many good memories of our get togethers and friendship over the past 52 years. It all started with Bill, Jo-Anne, Gladys and I living next door in Kingston while Bill and I pursued our Mining Engineering Degree from Queens. Jo-Anne was a vibrant individual and when at gatherings she was surrounded by all enjoying the conversation punctuated by Jo-Anne's laugh.
She was always ready for an adventure, trip and supporting Bill as he took on more challenges and opportunities in the mining industry.
It is with deep sadness that we offer our condolences for your loss.
A life well lived.

JoAnn, what can I say? You were one of my best friends and I will miss you terribly.
I will remember, fondly, our lunches together and spending the afternoons back at your house.
Our excursions to shop in New Liskeard were so much fun. Who am I going to buy clothes with now? Every time I walk into my closet it’s you I will think about.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to hear another Eagles song without thinking of our trip to Toronto and how much fun we had.
And I will always think about all the amazing things we had hoped to do in the future. Unfortunately the universe had other plans and I’ll never understand why.
To Bill and the rest of the family, I send you all my love and condolences. JoAnn, you will be missed by so many.

My deepest condolences in your loss. Ive recently been reminded of my time with you and Jo-Ann in Montana when you took me in for an overnight during one of my cross country wanderings. Jo-Ann had a way of making everyone feel very welcome and had an infectious smile (great photo above). While I've not had the pleasure of knowing her as well as others, I know well her son Rob and her impact in shaping him. What a great legacy she leaves in the ways she has left her imprint on you all.
So sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Jo-Ann's passing last weekend. I appreciate how lost you must feel, Bill, because she was your mate and right arm for so many years. I remember learning from your brother Steve and his wife Debbie in Falconbridge in the summer of 1970 that you would be joining our Mining class at Queen's that fall and then meeting you and Jo-Ann. The following year (Fall 1971), you slept on the floor of Yamashita's and my apartment until you found the house you and Jo-Ann shared -- see O'Shaughnessy's remembrance -- complete with Kristi in a basket -- parties at your place playing charades and listening to American Pie... Later, in Elliot Lake, you, Jo-Ann and your kids provided me with a family. There are so many fond memories...
As the obit and others have said, Jo-Ann was always fun to be around and was a going concern in whichever community she lived. (I remember her activities in Elliot Lake.) She would be a worthy, albeit posthumous, recipient of CIM's Sancta Barbara Medal.
I am so glad that Rob and his family are so near to you. If you need a change of scenery, we have a spare bedroom here in Colorado...Jo-Ann will be missed... Again, our deepest condolences.
So sorry to hear of your loss. We shared a love of ringette anf the great memories but she appeared to be so much more. Keep the memories strong.
Our deepest of condolences to you and your family. Jaak & Linda Järv
Dear Bill and family,

My deepest condolences Bill, Christi, Rob, and Bill jr on the loss of your wife and mother. I remember Jo-Ann in the early days of the KLSA. She was always a happy, fun-loving person and very supportive of her family. I wish you all nothing but strength and peace at this sorrowful time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Even after so many years have passed, the vivid& happy memories of Jo-Anne popped right up. Complete with the sound of her ever present laughter & sense of humour. Times we all shared together in 'the bush'. I still have recipes written in her hand in my tattered cookbook. Quick witted, vibrant, curious, engaged & full of life.
Jo-Anne engaged in life fully, even early on. May the many memories together bring some comfort to you and the family during this difficult time.
Our sincere condolences on the passing of Jo-Anne. May the memories you cherish help you through these difficult times.
Francine and Dean Archer
