PELETTE, William Conroy Bill

1916 - 2016

In loving memory of William Conroy Pelette who passed away peacefully at the Englehart District Hospital on Saturday, March 5, 2016, in his 100th year, with his loving family at his side. William was predeceased by his loving wife of 75 years Fredena Price Pelette, his brothers Dan, Ross and Earl and his sisters Daisy and Irene. He is survived by his daughters Norma Ross (Jean-Claude - predeceased) of Val d`Or, and Billie Gaudette (Henry) of Earlton, ON. He will be sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren Ronald Ross, James Ross (Linda), Dale Ross, Daniel Ross (Micheline), Donavon Gaudette (Maryse) Darren Gaudette (Sarah), Jason Gaudette (Glenna), his great-grandchildren Zachary, Tennyson, Nicole, Nathan, Taryn, Stephany (Kevin Tremblay), Kim, Alexie, Shayne and Yan, and his great-great-grandsons Tyler and Jayce. William is also survived by his sister-in-law Lena Pelette (Earl) of Ste Catherines, Ontario. William was born in West Cobalt on May 25, 1916 to Susan and Percy Pelette, who were pioneer mining settlers. The family lived in Silver Centre, Ontario for a time. Bill had great memories and stories of the silver days of Cobalt and area, which he loved to share with many. In 1928 his family moved to Val d`Or, again to work in the mining sector, where he met and married Fredena, the love of his life. All four brothers, Bill, Dan, Ross, Earl, served in World War II. Bill served with the 27th Armored Regiment (The Sherbrooke Fusiliers Regiment) and always mentioned that he was proud and honoured to serve his country. After retiring from Sigma Mines in Val d` Or, Quebec, they moved to Earlton, Ontario where they enjoyed their time camping, fishing, hunting, and travelling. One of their highlights of retirement was spent travelling with their grandchildren, creating special memories. A special thank you to Dr. Lacasse and to all the staff of Englehart District Hospital who always showed so much love, comfort, respect and compassion each day. In keeping with Bill`s wishes there will be no service at this time. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Silverland Cemetery in North Cobalt. If desired, donations to the Englehart Hospital BP Monitor Fund would be greatly appreciated. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
