MACKEY, Wayne
Wayne Mackey passed away at the Temiskaming Hospital on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the age of 73. Wayne is survived by his partner Ev Welsh, his children Tammy (Rafic Berbarie) and Blake (Ashley), his grandchildren Liam, Gabriel, Christian and Anna, his brothers Jim (Marion), Ray (Ursula), Brian (Colette), Bill (Germaine), and Murray (Bonnie), his sister Darlene (Rick Gardner)) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Nina Mackey and his beloved wife Jan. Wayne's people skills, work ethic and mechanical skills led to a career in the automotive industry. From Maguire's Garage in New Liskeard, to Elgin Ford and Sherway Motors; Wayne worked as Service Manager for Ford Motors in Toronto and Burlington. He and Jan returned to New Liskeard to own and operate Railway Garage until retirement. He then maintainedwith pride the equipment large and small at the Econolodge garage, where he also held a daily Hot Stove League. Wayne loved sports and travelling. He played baseball, hockey, and golf. He was an avid NASCAR and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He has toured Europe, visited many CaribbeanIslands and wintered in Yuma, Arizona. Being a man of faith, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shiners, and Hillview Pioneer Memorial United Church. Wayne's funeral service was held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11 am from the Hillview Pioneer Memorial United Church, and was officiated by Rev. Dr. MacQueen.
