Condolences to the Family and Friends. Tom sure had a long life and will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. So sorry for your loss.
Tom passed away peacefully on Friday April 28th, 2023 at Extendicare at the age of 98.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucie (1995) and his daughter Patrice (1995). He is survived by his son John (Debbie), his grandchildren Melanie (Sam), and Thomas (Veronique).
Tom spent his career working for Thomson Newspapers. Upon graduating from high school he was hired by Lord Thomson of Fleet Street as a journalist and sports writer in Timmins. After moving to Kirkland Lake he was managing editor then publisher at the Northern Daily News until his retirement.
Tom also served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II as an air frame mechanic, working primarily on Harvard fighter trainers, logging more air time than most flight instructors.
Tom spent many enjoyable years exploring the lakes and rivers in the area through his love of fishing with his children and grand children.
Tom will be remembered by many for his easy going manner and constant smile.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Extendicare for the wonderful heartfelt care they provided to Tom, making his stay there so easy and enjoyable.
Cremation has been entrusted to Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative, French Family Chapel in Kirkland Lake.
