Shirley Maude (Herron) Taylor died July 19, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener in her ninety-fourth year. Born in New Liskeard, December 18, 1915, she attended public and high school there and in 1937, graduated from Ontario Agricultural College (Guelph) in Home Economics. In 1939, she married the love of her life, Bill Taylor, and they resided in Kirkland Lake. During the war, she and daughter Bonnie moved back to New Liskeard to live with her parents, Maude and Frank Herron, while Mr. Taylor was with the RCAF overseas. After the war, they moved to Swastika where they raised their four children, Bonnie, Betty, Stephen and David. In 1972, they returned to New Liskeard to retire and care for Mrs. Taylor's aging parents. Mrs. Taylor joined the Hospital Auxiliary in 1975 and spent her remaining active years volunteering in the Gift Shop and making flower arrangements for the hospital. She became a Life Member of the Auxiliary as well as having the privilege of an Ontario Life Membership. Mrs. Taylor loved her garden and spent wonderful years cultivating beauty. June, 2006, at the age of 90, she moved from her beloved north country to Bankside Terrace Retirement Home in Kitchener, close to her daughters. Mrs. Taylor was predeceased by her husband, Bill, her dear son David, her parents, brother Lloyd and sister Audrey. Left to mourn her wonderful life are her children Bonnie (Vince), Betty (Peter), Stephen (Aileen) and daughter-in-law, Lynda as well as 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. Interment will be in the family plot in Pioneer Cemetery, New Liskeard. In Mrs. Taylor's memory, donations to Temiskaming Hospital Auxiliary or charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
