Her teaching career began at Queen Elizabeth Public School in Kirkland Lake, Ontario where she met and married Bill in 1954.Sheila’s passion was music. In earlier years she taught music in the public school system. She was so proud of her choirs who were entered in the Kiwanis Music Festival every year, and always did well. She started playing the piano for Federal United Church in Kirkland Lake many years ago and quickly formed a choir there as well. When the Federal Church closed, Sheila attended Trinity United Church and was a member of the choir there. She also was in “Just Friends,” a ladies’ singing group in Kirkland Lake where she enjoyed both the music and the social aspect of this close-knit group.Sheila accompanied the Interlink choir on the piano for many years which involved Grade 5 students and senior citizens who came together weekly throughout the year and then performed a Spring Concert at Northern College. Together Sheila’s friends, Erma Hill and Margaret McCrank ran this program.Later in life, Sheila volunteered at Extendicare and Teck Pioneer Residence playing the piano and entertaining the residents at everything from birthday parties to Canada Day celebrations. We would like to especially extend our heartfelt thanks to the healthcare providers at Extendicare Kirkland Lake for the kind, compassionate and dignified care they provided to Sheila over the years, particularly in the last difficult months. At Sheila’s request, cremation has taken place.VISITATION:

Dear Timmins family, My deepest sympathy on the death of you mother. I have very fond memories of your mom and dad. When I first arrived in KL in the late 60s to teach at KLCVI they took me under their wings and quietly made sure that I settled in comfortably. Sheila was a rare gem and we are all the richer for having had the opportunity to have known her. Mildred Breault
Thank you Mildred for your kind words about our Mother.
Our sincere condolences to the Timmins family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during these difficult times. Sheila was always so proud and loved her family very much. Barb and I spend a lot of time together with them as our families were growing up. Barb and I treasure the great times we spent with Sheila and Bill snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and curling. We will always remember the many parties we had together – topping it off with a few drinks ( mostly rum).
Susan, Please accept my sincere condolences. I remember how your mom would graciously play the piano for our group of KLCVI friends to help us practice for our Christmas Carolling night around the Federal area. We would go carolling, then your dad would usually have a fire on in the wood stove in the family room upon our return; your mom would supply us with hot chocolate and treats; and we girls would talk and laugh and have a good time your parents were great to put up with us on those occasions. Those evenings are some of my fond KLCVI memories…. My condolences to all your family members.
Thank you Darlene for your lovely comments about my family especially those good times we sure had.
