To the Batisse Family: I was very sad to hear of Roy’s passing. Roy was a Great Friend to the Hanson Family, and a wonderful, helpful person. I remember when he hung out with my brother Norman, now they can hang out again! May you Rest in Peace Roy. Love Clara Hanson.

Roy was not only a very special uncle to me but a true friend. He shared many stories and even tried teaching me Ojiway and his little songs that he’d sing which always brought laughter in the room. Roy always smiled and his laughter was one that was so distinctive. Everyone knew when Roy was approaching, before you can even see him, his whisting tunes would give him away. He enjoyed life and his family and love spending time with neighborhood friends. Uncle Roy, you have been an inspiration in my life and the lives of my family. We’ll miss you, however your love will remain in our hearts forever. Until we meet again, so long my friend..RIP. Love Jeanine, Donald, Zackery and Nickolas.. xoxoxoxo

My first memory of Roy Batisse was one late night on the Matchewan community. I was working the nightshift and on my way to the community. I came across two moose on the roadway, they would not get off the roadway so we ended up in front of Kojak’s place. I called her I think I woke her up. She called Roy who came up and took the moose down. I remember Roy saying “Johnny gets the first cut of meat” from that point on during my stay working for the community we would chat time to time. I will never forget that laugh. When I heard of his passing I will tell you that I did shed a tear. On behave of the Snake Family; Johnny, Danielle, Paris and Lil Johnny we send our love to the family and friends of Roy Batisse in this time of need.
