WATCHORN, Rosa

1914 - 2012

Rosa Watchorn died of natural causes at the Temiskaming Lodge in Haileybury on February 3, 2012. She was born in Caldwell Township, Verner, on October 29, 1914, to Antoine and Délia Roy. After moving to Uno Park from Verner in 1921, she received her education in Uno Park, where she married John Watchorn in July of 1940. Mrs. Watchorn was a housewife, a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church and a custodian at New Liskeard Secondary School. She was the centre of her family and enjoyed nothing more than having everyone over for coffee and cookies. She was so happy to take good care of everyone. Mrs. Watchorn spent many hours in her garden which was her pride and joy. She delighted in sharing her raspberries, rhubarb and cherries with family and friends. Over the years she won many ribbons at the New Liskeard Fall Fair for her floral displays. Mrs. Watchorn could often be found in her rocking chair, knitting creations for the family and was thrilled with the new generations arriving in her family each year. She will be sadly missed by her children and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband John Watchorn and daughter Dolores Godmaire, Mrs. Watchorn is survived by her sister-in-law Anna Roy, formerly of New Liskeard, children Germain (Jacqueline Roy), Royal (Nicole Carrière), Norman (Valerie Nelson), Rachel (Omer Godmaire), Claudette (Raymond Godmaire), Michel (Linda Bigelow) and son-in-law André Godmaire. The funeral was arranged by Perrin Funeral Chapel in New Liskeard with the service conducted by Father John Lemire. Pallbearers were grandsons Wayne, Danny, Darren, Darcy and Robert Watchorn and son-in-law Raymond Godmaire. Burial will be at the Catholic Cemetery in New Liskeard. Relatives and friends attending the service from out of town came from Field, Sudbury, North Bay, Ottawa and the Toronto area. Condolences and donations may be left at www.perrinfuneralchapel.com.
