It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Leslie Carleton son of Leslie and Lil Carleton. Ron passed away on March 9, 2013 at the age of 55 in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his fiancé Viola Smith and family and niece Becky Kirkey by his side after a brave battle with melanoma cancer. Ron will be remembered by his mother Lil, his two children with their mother Peri Thib, Ryen Carleton wife Teresa and Ashlee Carleton husband Marc Benoit, and two Grandsons Luke Carleton and Eli Benoit. His sisters Ann Setterington husband Doug Setterington and Gail Carleton husband Fred Larlee. Nieces Monica and Nicole Setterington, Megan Rooney and Becky Kirkey, and Payton and Parker Sproule. Our family would like to also take this time to thank Viola and her entire family whose love and support for Ron over the past few years helped him find strength and determination to put forward his best fight. Ron was an active participant in research studies and trials for new melanoma treatments. For the past several years he made his home in Nova Scotia and had close ties with the Cape Breton community of Mabou, Hillsborough. Special thanks to his Doctors, Mimi Davis, Johnathan Trites, and David Bowes. Donations are requested in lieu of flowers to the Melanoma Network of Canada. Ron will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather and uncle. He was an avid curler and a competitive athlete with loves for hockey and running. He was a volunteer fireman, a paramedic, and worked many years at the Adams Mine as well as other paths which allowed him to see all corners of the country. He enjoyed his life wherever it took him and always found time to tell a story along his way. He will be missed but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held at the Englehart Curling Club on Saturday March 16th from 1:00 to 3:00pm. We hope that friends and family can join us to celebrate his life
