You can take the boy out of Kirkland Lake, but, you can’t take Kirkland Lake out of the boy.  This was certainly true of Francis Robert Murray, a proud Holy Name Irish Alumni and son of Kirkland Lake.  Francis Murray, sadly, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the age of 80. He is preceded in death by his parents Norma and Roy and his sister Suzanne. He is survived by his wife Paola, son Rob (Shelly) daughter Erin (Martin) and their mother Kluane.  He was a proud Grandfather of Emily, Megan, Dylan, Veronica, Liam and Norah  A Loved brother of  Lynn (Doug, Katy, Kim) and  Keith (Sharon). Francis’ absence will be felt forever.  Happy strumming with the Clancy Brothers Francis.

We are very saddened to learn of Francis’ death. An original Round Lake Jet-setter, legend has it that he slalomed on a paddle. An educator and Dr. Seuss aficionado, he always knew how big the Grinch’s heart grew. Hopefully similar fond memories of many shared family occasions in Montreal, Toronto and K.L. will bring a smile and happy thoughts to everyone who knew him.

My condolences to the Murray Clan. Hold onto your memories for comfort.

When Lynn told me that Francis passed away, I felt a tug of sorrow on my heart. I have wonderful memories of Francis. One of those memories is when Francis was home from university and working at Hydro for the summer. I mustered up the courage and walked over to Hydro and asked Francis if he would come with me to the high school graduation dance. Francis being the kind & considerate fellow he always was, said yes. We had such a wonderful time & became friends.

There are people that come in & out of our lives for whatever reason and they stay in our memories forever. He was that person for me. I will always remember his beautiful blue eyes. Thanks for the precious memories Francis.
