DUCHENE, Phyllis

1942 - 2024

It is with sadness the family of Phyllis (Heneberry) Duchene announces her passing on July 27, 2024 at the age of 82. Phyllis was born in Kingston, Ontario yet settled in many areas throughout the Timiskaming region (Bear Lake, Round Lake, Dane, Kirkland Lake to name a few); and finally in Swastika, Ontario.

Left to mourn are her children William (Janet), Lynne (Roger) Boucher and Christian and five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings Hannah and Gaston and sister-in-law Gladys Heneberry of her family; and survived by her in-laws Desneige Epp, Theresa Laviolette, Leo Duchene, Louise Duchene, Émile (Jane) Duchene, Theresa (Fred) Gardiner, Priscilla Duchene, Edmond (Sue) Duchene, Raymond (Fernande) Poirier. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews; along with many foster children raised throughout the years.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Henry, her parents James and Margaret Heneberry, her brothers, Philip, Tom; father in-law Josepha Duchene and mother–in-law Mignonne Duchene; her brother in-laws Eugene (Ruby) Duchene, John Epp, Nelson Duchene (Elsie), Gerry Laviolette, Philibert Duchene, sister in-laws Cecile (George) Koleszar, Jeanette Duchene, Leona Burns (Monty), Emma (Bob) Bones, Edgar Duchene, and Ruby Poirier.

The family welcomes friends and family on Saturday August 17, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative Inc., located at 111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Nora Barker, Theresa Gardiner and Leslie Ireland who were there countless times during mom’s hospitalization. A special thank you goes out to those family members and friends who visited with her while at home and in the hospital. She loved to see you walk in the door. If you were unable to make it; she enjoyed the phone calls.

Thank you to all those compassionate staff who helped with her daily care; to mention Susan, Gabby, Krista and many other nurses, along with the PSWs. I am very sorry to hear of your mother's passing, especially so soon after losing your father. I have known your parents since I moved to Kirkland Lake in my grade 8 year (with Lynne).
