SEMENYNA, Paul

1959 - 2022

Paul David Semenyna, 62 was taken from us too soon last week.  Paul was born in Kirkland Lake, went to grade school in Gowganda and back to Kirkland Lake for High School and Northern College.  He started working for A&P when he was 16 and never stopped working for them until he retired, working at stores in KL, North Bay and Timmins (under Metro). Paul loved to fish.  He learned to fish in Gowganda from his father Peter in a small 14’ aluminum boat and he continued to fish in the waters surrounding Kirkland Lake and Timmins until his retirement.  Paul is predeceased by his father Peter, his mother Sophie, his aunt Hanka Turchn and Marie Semenyna of Ternopil, Ukraine, his uncle Steve Stadnik of London, Ont., Stafford Dendiuk of Windsor, Ont. and his aunt Mary Stadnik of Toronto, Ont., .

Surviving to cherish his memory are his sister Linda of Tucson, AZ, his sister Catherine of Chesapeake, VA, his aunt Anne Lemene (Stadnik), of Kirkland Lake, his uncle Dennis Stadnik of Wavell, Ont., his aunt Stella Stadnik of Butler Lake, Ont. and several cousins.

A service will be held on Friday, March 25 at 1 pm in the Chapel of the French Family Funeral Home at 111 Burnside Dr., Kirkland Lake, Ont. P2N 3L1.  Following the service, the family invites you to The Fed to help celebrate Paul’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal of the Canadian Red Cross (https://donatenow.wfp.org).

It was a pleasure to work with Paul at A&P /Metro.
I loved hearing about his fishing stories and enjoyed his sense of humor.
We played many pranks on eachother over the years. There was never a boring day with Paul around.
