The Hartling family
Pat was a neighbour and friend. She would often show me, with pride, the various quilts she was making for family members. Pat was a gem. Rest In Peace, my friend.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Patricia, surrounded by family.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Leo and Mary (nee Nicol) Hartling, her sister Sylvia Hartling, her brother Mike Hartling, her niece Suzanne Pilon, and her nephews Tim Giroux, Kyle Giroux, and Corey Cassistat.
Surviving Pat is her brother Patrick, her nieces Debra Kearney, Patti Lizewski (Joe), Susan Hartling and Janet Hartling, her sister-in-law Elaine Hartling (Mike’s wife, who Pat thought of and treated as a sister), her great-nieces and nephews Sabrina, Jason, Corinne, Joseph, Paulina, Seth and Eli, as well as great-great-nieces and nephews, and many treasured friends and neighbors who held a special place in Pat’s heart. Pat also left behind her sweet cat, Miss Daisy, who has now joined Pat on the other side.
Pat was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, then left for Toronto at the age of 20 where she worked for over 30 years until she made the decision to return back to her hometown. Pat bought a convenience store on Second St in Kirkland Lake in the early 1990s, Pat’s Variety, which she owned and operated for 17 years until her retirement.
Pat lived every day to the fullest, participating in many activities with her friends, like breakfasts every Sunday at local restaurants. She was a member and volunteer at the Encore Club and always looked forward to karaoke, shuffleboard, shooting pool, and the dinners and dances at the Club. Pat was a very talented crafter; she always had a project on the go whether it was a quilt or something she was knitting. She gifted many beautiful items to family and friends over the years. Pat was also very active and enjoyed her walks around Kinross Pond.
Pat will be missed by so many who knew and loved her. A spring memorial will be announced at a later date.

Aunt Pat was a special person and I feel so privileged to have met her. She treated everyone like she had known them for years, and was always kind and positive. She told the best stories, sure to make you laugh. I’ll always be thankful to Aunt Pat for sewing together my best man’s pocket square at my wedding, which added such a personal touch to the day.

We were very sorry to hear the sad news concerning Pat. I remember her so well as for many years I would stop in the store on my home from the school, have a chat and pick up my paper. She was always so friendly and it was a joy to know her! It was only later after seeing an old photo of students in Central school that I realized we were there at the same time .Good memories. She will be sadly missed by many.

Sincere condolences to you and your family, Elaine. I will miss my quiet neighbour Pat - I will cherish the masks she created for all of us, and the many times she answered my calls, when I forgot my keys and counted on her to let me in the building, sat with her and her group of Kareoke friends at the Encore Club on Saturday nights enjoying the nights out -
You were a small person with a big heart and we will you around Patricia. RIP see you on the other side
