1928 - 2015

In loving memory of Mr. Milford Black who passed away at Englehart & District Hospital, on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the age of 87. Milford worked as an engine attendant for the Ontario Northland Railway in Englehart 1949-1978 and Moosonee 1979-1984. Outside of his ONR career, many people got to know Milford as a reliable handyman. This included carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. Milford enjoyed and owned a variety of campers over the years, ensuring that the annual camping trip was a must. He also spent many years as a school bus driver. Both he and Ruth enjoyed the last 5 years of his career in Moosonee, which afforded them the opportunity to make many new friends and to hone their DJ skills from their in home studio. Milford and Ruth were married two months short of 67 years. Family wishes to thank Milford`s – Homecare Workers; the staff of the Kirkland Lake and New Liskeard Dialysis Clinics; the Medical Staff of the Englehart and New Liskeard Hospitals. Pre-deceased by his parents, siblings Winnifred (Norman Fergusson), Merlin, Elgin, Lillian (Ernie Demarell, Wally (Betty) and brother-n-law Elmer Field. He is survived by his wife Ruth, 4 children Ed (Marie Tucker), Dean (Theresa Loiselle), Layne, Donna Bob Swanson), his grandchildren Kara, Matthew, Andrew,Lisa, Chrissy, Amy, Shannon and his great grandchildren Maggie, Aaron, Lauren, Anna, Meredith, Eddie, Noah, Cody, Will, and Kendra. Also by his sisters Eva Field, Hazel (Vernon) Pratt and sister-in-law Jean Black. The family of the late Mr. Milford Black will receive friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart, Saturday, November 28, from 11 - 1 pm. A `Celebration of Life` will be held at McDonald Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, at 1:00 pm. Mr. Stan Fergusson officiating.
