Thinking of you nanny, miss and love you xoxo. Wish I still had you to call and talk to. You’ve never judged us and always just wanted our family together and since you’ve been gone there is no meaning to our family.
Hosken, Mildred Frances (1920-2018)
It is with heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of a Wonderful Mother and Grandmother (Nanny), Mildred Hosken, age 98, at Teck Pioneer Residence on Thursday, October 11, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Andy and Kathleen Parker, her husband of 59 years, Harold, son Rick, grandchildren Gordie and Kathy, sisters Muriel, Eva, Ruby, Thelma and Lil. She is lovingly remembered by her children Harold (Val), Linda, Fran (Hugh), Lorraine, Joe (Barb), Brian (Charlene) and her sister Grace. She will be forever remembered and loved by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Born on July 3, 1920 in Toronto, she was raised in the Englehart area and moved to Kirkland Lake after she married as Harold worked in the mines. Mom (Nan) loved children and took care of many over the years. She was also a pet lover. She took pride in her family, her home and her garden. She thoroughly enjoyed her BINGO games. An avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan; however, she did enjoy watching most sports. She had a wonderful sense of humor right until the end. Although our hearts were not ready to let her go, she was so ready for the shiny, well deserved wings that awaited her. “Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear”. A special Thank You to her Granddaughters, Patricia and Kelly, who were always there for her. We also wish to thank all the nurses with N.E.L.H.I.N. home and community program. Your care and compassion shown toward her will never be forgotten. A heartfelt thank you to the Staff and Residents at Teck Pioneer for making Mom’s stay a pleasant one. The family will receive relatives and friends at the French Family Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, October 15, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Mildred will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. Visitation:
