Today I mourn the loss of a dear and loyal friend. I arrived in Kirkland Lake , a nineteen year old first year teacher and was fortunate enough to board with Mary for four years. She eased my homesickness and made me feel like a family member. Mary Ellen, Roger and Bill are still youngsters in my memory. May all your good memories sustain you in the years ahead. Lorne and I made many “pilgrimages” to Kirkland Lake and now Mary and Lorne, who died last March, will reminisce and laugh over the good times. Mary, your strong faith has guided many on the right path. May you enjoy eternal life! Sandra Lawson, Alexandria, Ontario
