It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurie Gaye Wein at the age of 72 on February 15th, 2025 surrounded by her family at Health Sciences North. Laurie was a kind, loving and dedicated personal support worker for 41 years. She spent her days laughing and chatting with family and watching her grandchildren grow.
Laurie is predeceased by her father Albert Wein and her mother Jacqueline Wein. She will forever be remembered by her son Scott Wein (Aubrey Punch), her sister Brenda (Chris) Blatchford, her niece Tara (Aaron) Hodgson, her nephew Cameron Blatchford, cousins Janice (Stanley) Sweet, Carol (Bob) Flood, Maurice Cameron; her best friend Grace (Donald) McLaughlin and her precious grandchildren Lara and Findley Wein.
As per Laurie’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be placed in the family plot this summer at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.
Gone but always with us in spirit. “We love her to the moon and back.”

I am so sorry to hear this news, Laurie and I go way back, worked together went to Union school together, had many laughs together, she was so kind and compassionate with my mom. She was a beautiful soul, her mom and mine were bingo buddies. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

This is such sad, sad news. My heart goes out to you & your faimly Scott, I know how close you two were. Even though Laurie & I didn't see each other very often, when we did it was like we'd only been apart a week. I will miss that. Losing a best friend is hard but losing a parent is so much harder. All my love to you & your family Scott.
