Fournier, Jules (1929-2024)
In loving memory of Jules Joseph Fournier also known as Joe, or Pepe.
It’s with great sadness that the family of Jules Fournier wishes to inform you of his peaceful passing; at the Teck Pioneer Residence on November 23rd, 2024; with his family by his side.
He leaves behind his sons, Emeric (Tracy) and Roland. His adored grandchildren, Erica (Matthew), Mathew, Natasha (Jesse), Jules (Kara), Diane (Manpreet). Plus, a great grandchild Aria.
Joe is predeceased by his parents and his wife Carmelle Fournier (Lamarche).
Joe lived to be 95 years of age, and was fortunate to have lived a full and active life. He was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, but travelled Canada for work in his early years. Joe eventually returned to settle in Kirkland Lake, and worked at many of the operational mines in and around the area. His final job prior to retirement was spent mining for the Adams Mine. Joe was always such a happy, friendly, and caring man, the kind of man to give you the shirt off his back. Joe being the outgoing person he was, also loved to volunteer his time! Every year for the holidays he loved to dress up in a big red suit, paired with his red hat, white beard and moustache. With hopes of bringing smiles to so many children’s faces, who sat upon his lap over the years; to tell him their Christmas wishes and dreams. This brought him so much joy and happiness!
Joe loved to tell stories, and boy were they endless! He would often share stories of the building of Kirkland Lake. When he was first born here, most of our town was not yet built. Joe was an artist, talented in many ways. He enjoyed playing the spoons, the harmonica and he could even play the accordion. He also enjoyed wood carving and was a phenomenal painter. Joe was most in his element however when outdoors, he thoroughly enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family. He leaves the family behind with so many wonderful memories and laughs that will be forever cherished.
The family would like to express a sincere special thanks to the Teck Pioneer Residence Staff for over 8 years of exceptional care. Thanks to the nurses and personal support workers who went above and beyond, who became like family to him. Thank You to Dr. Moore for your professional care. We could not have done this without you all.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teck Pioneer Residence; 145A Government Road East, Kirkland Lake ON, P2N 3P4
In accordance with Joe’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a graveside service will be held in the spring
